Nguyen Makes "Three Pair"

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Hung Nguyen
Hung Nguyen

Hung Nguyen opened to 4,000 in early position and action folded around to the player on the button, who called. Both players in the blinds folded and action went heads up to a flop of {8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. Action went check-check.

The turn came {8-Hearts} and Nguyen fired out a bet of 6,000. His opponent called and the river fell {9-Spades}. Both players checked once again to take the hand to showdown.

"Three pair," said Nguyen, showing {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} for an overpair to the two pair that was already on the board. His jacks up proved to be best as his opponent let out a playful groan and tabled {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. "I finally got you," said Nguyen after the two finished a fun exchange that resulted in the table concluding that Nguyen's opponent missed because he had too many outs, especially after getting to the turn for free.

Nonetheless, Nguyen now finds himself over 150,000 and is one of the largest stacks in the room with six tables currently in play and around five minutes left in Level 10.

Kings Kind to Karahalios

Level 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

There was an all-in shove for 15,200 under the gun and Tony Karahalios called from the player's direct left. All remaining players folded and both hands were tabled.

All-In Player: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Tony Karahalios: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, leaving the all-in player's hand still second best to result in his elimination. The pot was subsequently shipped to Karahalios, bringing his stack north of 90,000 along the way.

Shenefelt Rivers Nut Flush To Double

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Ted Shenefelt
Ted Shenefelt

There was 14,700 in the pot with three-way action between Pat Pineda in the small blind, Ted Shenefelt in the big blind, and a player in the cutoff. The board read {3-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Pineda checked. Shenefelt was next to act and put out a bet of 6,500, which the cutoff called before Pineda folded.

Action was then heads up as the river fell {8-Clubs} and Shenefelt postured for a couple of seconds before announcing he was all in. The cutoff immediately called.

Ted Shenefelt: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Cutoff: {j-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The cutoff's trip eights were no match for Shenefelt's rivered nut flush, earning Shenefelt the double for his winning hand.

Taylor Gets Another Knockout

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Brian Taylor
Brian Taylor

Stacks were in the process of going into the middle on a flop of {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs} with Brian Taylor in the cutoff having his opponent on the button at risk.

All-In Player: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Brian Taylor: {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Taylor's top pair of queens was ahead of his opponent's pair of jacks with an ace kicker. The all-in player had five immediate outs in the deck and did not hit any of them as the turn {9-Diamonds} and river {3-Clubs} completed the runout and earned Taylor the pot and the knockout.
