Another full day of action has played to its conclusion at the 2020 Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Golden Gates $360 Regional Event. The second of four flights drew 207 entries to bring the two-day total thus far to 368.

Of those 207 entries, 24 players remained when chips went into bags and Abhinav Parakh found himself atop the counts with a stack of 414,000. He was the only player above 400,000, but found four players hot on his heels with Roman Mai (392,000),Ian Glycenfer (390,000), Branden Rooney (386,000), and Zach Gutierrez (371,000) rounding out the top five.

Much like Day 1a, the final level of the night saw an onslaught of casualties, with players such as Steve Wilkie and David Blankenship among those to be eliminated shortly before play concluded for the night with chips flying all across the three remaining tables of play that led to a lot of players riding roller coasters with their stack sizes before becoming official for the evening.

Several other well-known players to the Colorado poker scene will also be joining the aforementioned five. Richard Seale[/b[ (282,000), [b]Greg Collins (240,000), Sammy Aweida (183,000) and Stephen Zipprich (137,000) are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 17 to have already advanced from Day 1a.

Among those not as lucky at the felt included Andreas Ramadanis, Kevin Kurtz, Ben Keeline, Bobby Sanoubane, and Ryan Dodson, and at least a few of them are likely to be seen back in action for one or more of the two remaining flights.

Play will resume Friday at noon for Day 1c with the $150,000 guaranteed prize pool likely to be surpassed early in the day. Keep it at PokerNews for updates as all the action unfolds.

Play Finished for the Night

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Play has concluded on all three tables and players are in the process of putting chips into bags. Official end-of-day chip counts will be provided shortly with a full recap of the day's action to follow soon thereafter.

Seale Knocks One Out Before Bagging

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Richard Seale had opened from early position and received a call from the player on his left before the hijack went all in for his last 25,000. Action made its way back to Seale and he slid forward a large stack of chips totaling well over 100,000 as a reraise. The player on his left folded and the two were off to the races.

Hijack: {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Richard Seale: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}

Seale was ahead in the coin flip situation and saw the runout come {2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} to send the all-in player home on one of the final hands of the night.

Glycenfer Over 400,000

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Ian Glycenfer opened the action with a raise to 10,000 and received calls from the small blind as well as Abhinav Parakh, who defended his big blind. The flop came {3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and action checked to Glycenfer, who made a continuation-bet of 13,000. The small blind called and Parakh folded.

Action was then heads up to the turn {8-Spades} and action went check-check, bringing the river {7-Clubs} on board. The small blind checked again and Glycenfer thought for about 30 seconds before putting out a bet of 34,000. His oppnent then took his turn in the tank, thinking for around the same amount of time before sending his cards to the muck.

Glycenfer has surpassed 400,000 with the pot and finds himself slightly ahead of Parakh, who is just below that mark as the end of the night looms near.

Wright Cooked by Rooney

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Keith Wright
Keith Wright

On the last hand of the previous level, there was around 65,000 in the middle on a board of {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} with action heads up between Branden Rooney in the hijack and Keith Wright, who was on the button. Rooney check-raised all in for over a bet of 35,000 from Wright and Wright thought for a bit before announcing a call for the rest of his chips.

Keith Wright: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Branden Rooney: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Rooney was the first to table his hand and Wright threw his cards to the center of the table in disgust after seeing his top pair, top kicker was drawing dead. The river came {2-Hearts} to complete the runout and send him to the rail as the final level of the night was set to begin.

Aweida Fades the Flush To Double

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

A player limped in from middle position and action made its way around to Sammy Aweida, who completed his small blind. Stephen Zipprich checked his option from the big blind and the three went to a flop of {q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.

Aweida was first to act and led out with a bet of 8,000. Zipprich folded and the middle-position player called, taking action heads up to the turn {k-Diamonds}. Aweida checked over to his opponent and she put in a bet of 22,000. Aweida quickly check-raised all in.

The middle-position player asked for the 22,000 to be raked in to see how much more it was for her to call. That number was 32,000 more and she thought for a few seconds before tossing in enough T5,000 chips to make the pot right.

Sammy Aweida: {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Middle Position: {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Aweida had turned the second-nut straight and was ahead of his opponent's pair, gutshot straight draw, and second-nut flush draw. The middle-position player saw the situation and verbalized it, saying she just needed a diamond or a ten. The dealer did not comply with her request, bringing {a-Spades} on board to complete the runout and earn Aweida the double.
