Quads for Ajayi

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Dapo Ajayi
Dapo Ajayi

Dapo Ajayi raised all in for 34,000 from the under-the-gun position and that cleared the field all the way around to three-time MSPT champ Matt Kirby, who called from the big blind.

Matt Kirby: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Dapo Ajayi: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Ajayi was behind but not after the flop came down {q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Spades} to give him two pair. The {k-Clubs} on the turn made it a full house and locked up the double, but just for good measure the dealer put out the {k-Diamonds} on the river to improve Ajayi to quad kings.

Prize Pool and Payout Information

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

To say the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Grand Falls Casino $1,100 buy-in, $150K GTD Main Event crushed it would be an understatement. The first live mid-major poker tournament in the United States in nearly six months attracted 518 entries (226 from Day 1a; 292 from 1b), which not only surpassed the venue’s previous best field of 238 entries in 2015, but also became the largest major ($1,000+ buy-in) in Iowa history.

The top 54 finishers will get paid with the eventual winner walking away with a $107,706 first-place prize.

Big Slick Does the Trick for Fink

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Mark Fink
Mark Fink

A short-stacked player was all in preflop for their last 35,000 and at risk against Mark Fink, who back in 2016 finished runner-up to Ted Takasaki here in the MSPT Grand Falls Main Event.

Mark Fink: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Fink had the superior ace and his kicker made the difference after the board ran out {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

"You'll Hit an Ace the Way I've Been Running with Queens"

Scott Schneider opened with a raise and then called when Luke Blindert three-bet jammed for 41,000 next to act.

Scott Schneider: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Luke Blindert: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}

"You'll hit an ace the way I've been running with queens," Schneider said before the flop was dealt out.

He called it as the {8-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} flop did indeed pair Blindert. Neither the {3-Clubs} turn nor {6-Diamonds} river helped Schneider and he was left with crumbs.
