Garosshen Ices An Opponent

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Kevin Garosshen
Kevin Garosshen

Kevin Garosshen opened the action with a raise to 1,500 in the hijack and saw the cutoff call behind as well as both players in the blinds. All four players checked through a flop of {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and the turn came {7-Spades}.

The players in the blinds both checked again and Garosshen put out a bet of 2,500. Only the big blind called. The river fell {q-Diamonds} and the big blind quickly gathered all of his chips into one stack and slid it forward onto the felt. Garosshen called and both players immediately tabled their hands.

Big Blind: {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Kevin Garosshen: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

"Quads!" said a player at the table. The big blind saw the bad news: his full house had run into one of the only two hands that could beat it in Garosshen's four sevens and he was eliminated from the tournament as a result.

Wilkie Shows Two Pair

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante
Steve Wilkie
Steve Wilkie

A player in early position raised to 1,200 and saw five calls as action moved around the table. One of which was Steve Wilkie in the small blind.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Wilkie, first to act, led out with a bet of 5,000. One by one, all remaining players in the hand folded and Wilkie took down the pot.

Wilkie reached forward from the one-seat and dropped {a-Spades}{2-Spades} down onto the middle of the table next to the displayed flop, bringing about some excitement and recognition before the pot was shipped his way.

Larson Back Over Starting Stack

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante
David Larson
David Larson

Four players saw a flop of {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{k-Spades} with at least 12,000 in the middle and everybody checked to David Larson, who was in the hijack and bet 4,500. Only one player called from early position and action proceeded heads up to the turn {3-Spades}.

The early-position player checked again and Larson gathered his remaining 7,300 and put it into the middle. His opponent thought for a bit and then took 7,500 worth of chips and called.

David Larson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Early-Position Player: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Larson's top pair, top kicker was ahead of his opponent's open-ended straight draw and the river {10-Diamonds} kept his kings best to earn him the double and then some. With the pot, Larson now finds himself at 42,000 after spending most of the day thus far below starting stack.
