There was heads-up action after a 
flop between Darnell Echols from early position and his opponent from the button.
With over 11,000 already in the middle, Echols moved all-in for 14,300 and his opponent called.

A series of preflop raises saw Jeffrey Sherman jam for 7,300 from middle position and Adai Williams called from the cutoff only to have Benjamin Wiora five-bet to 20,000 from the button.
Gregory Asche called off his stack holding less then 20k from the small blind and action folded back to Williams who said, "I guess if you have aces you have aces but I call," as he moved all his chips in the middle then tabled 
.
Williams got ahead of himself as he only called the 20k bet instead of going all in, so he pulled back the rest of his chips and the dealer dropped a 
flop.
Williams quickly moved his remaining stack in the middle and his earlier excitement seemed to hurt him as Wiora mucked 
face up.

Williams held the bets made hand and the turn didn't change as it paired the board. The dealer then completed the board with teh 
on the river and Williams gave Wiora a relieved look as he collected the pot.

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the $1,100 Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about some of the side events that have taken place out over the past week during the Winter Poker Classic.
In Event #2: $250 PLO, 186 runners created a $36,429 that was paid out to the top 21 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Blake Anderson (20th - $446), Thai Dinh (18th - $484), George Veazey (15th - $558), Brandon Mead (13th - $707), and John Corrigan (10th - $707).
In the end, it was Minnesota native Alan Carlson who collected every chip in play to capture the WPC trophy, along with first-place $5,868 payday.

With roughly 13,000 already in the middle, Williams raised to 17,000 after his opponent led out for 6,000 and was called.
Williams rolled over 
for the diamond flush and his opponent mucked their hand giving him the pot.

Steve Wilkie opened for 400 from under the gun and was called by Paul Axeen from middle position before Steve Wazwaz three-bet to 900 from late position.
Casey Temper called from the cutoff, as did Nicholas Anderson from the big blind. Action was back on Wilkie who called and Axeen came along as well bringing action five-ways to a 
flop.
Action was checked to Wazwaz who took down the pot after he continued with a 3,500 uncontested bet.
