Kelsall Busted Again

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Small blind AJ Kelsall was the last caller for 3,500 preflop after a few players were in the pot, but the big blind shoved for about 22,000. Action folded back to Kelsall.

"I almost have to gamble with you," he said.

He reached over to add his stack to his opponent's, indicating his hand may be subpar, then he tossed some chips in the middle. He was covered by a few thousand. Sure enough:

Kelsall: {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Big blind: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop was awful for Kelsall as his best chance of making a big hand would now leave him drawing dead. The {5-Clubs} turn sealed the deal.

Nguyen Takes It from Tice on the River

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Luke Nguyen
Luke Nguyen

Action folded around to MSPT Venetian champ Landon Tice on the button and he raised to 3,500, which Luke Nguyen called from the big blind.

The latter then check-called a bet of 3,000 on the {q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{k-Hearts} flop before action went check-check on the {4-Clubs} turn.

When the {6-Spades} completed the board on the river, Nguyen bet 13,000 and that did the trick as Tice released his hand.

Abdukadyrov Makes Good on His Promise

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Watching the preflop action on table 41 there was a raise to 3,500 from the under-the-gun player and a three-bet to 11,000 from the player in the cutoff. After both the players on the button and in the small blind folded Abdukadyrov, in the big blind, said that we were about to see some real action and promptly moved forward a stack of blue 5,000 chips.

The original raiser tanked for a moment before calling all-in, which got a fold from the player in the cutoff. The under-the-gun player had a big hand, but unfortunately for him Abdukadyrov had the biggest hand.

Nizom Abdukadyrov: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
All-in Player: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Abdukadyrov started with the best hand and nothing changed after the {7-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} runout.

Henry Folds the Turn

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Hanson Henry bet 11,000 into 16,000 from the button on a board of {4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and a player in early position check-raised all in for 43,500.

"I wanna see your kicker if I fold," Henry said.

After another moment, he did let it go.

Kachel Continues to Climb

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Bill Kachel
Bill Kachel

A raising war on a {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop saw the under-the-gun player get all in for their last 40,000 or so against Bill Kachel, who was in the big blind.

Bill Kachel: {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Kachel was well out in front with two pair and it held as the {j-Spades} appeared on the turn followed by the {8-Clubs} on the river.

Rockets Hold

Level 11 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Joe Nguyen raised to 2,700 from the cutoff and the big-blind player defended.

After the dealer spread a flop of {8-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} the big-blind player decided to take the lead and bet 8,000. Nguyen then moved all in and was called.

Joe Nguyen: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Big-blind Player: {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Nguyen was ahead and needed a favorable runout to avoid elimination, which he got on the {4-Diamonds} turn and {6-Diamonds} river.

Phan Fails to Catch Against Kachel

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Donnie Phan in previous action.
Donnie Phan in previous action.

With a flop of {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, unknown action resulted in Donnie Phan, who was in the small blind, getting his stack of roughly 54,000 all in against Bill Kachel, who was in the big.

Bill Kachel: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Donnie Phan: {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Phan had a pair and flush draw, but he needed to improve to overcome the top pair of Kachel.

The {9-Spades} turn was no help to Phan and neither was the {j-Spades} river to put an end to his run on Day 1a of the MSPT Venetian.

Ditrapani Finds Dream Flop

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Nicola Ditrapani
Nicola Ditrapani

Two players checked to Nic Ditrapani on {j-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Spades} and he bet 5,200 into about 8,500 from the button. The small blind tossed in 20,000, almost half his stack, and the big blind folded. Ditrapanisaid he was all in and the small blind called with a sigh, showing {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for top pair. He was country miles behind as Ditrapani turned over {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a straight, and the {7-Diamonds} turn meant he didn't have a single card to sweat on the river.
