Gera Gets Lucky

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

After the player in the cutoff raised to 2,500 Nikhil Gera three-bet shoved from his small blind, the big-blind player then four-bet shoved and the original raiser made the call to create a possible side pot.

Nikhil Gera: {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Big-blind Player: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Cutoff: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Gera got it in behind but was happy to see those two hands. The {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop gave him a lot of outs to score the triple-up, and the {k-Diamonds} turn was one of those since the other two players were now drawing dead and there was no possibility of a side pot, which meant the {4-Hearts} river changed nothing.

Garshofsky Scoops a Monster

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Three players put in 6,500 preflop, with the hijack appearing to have three-bet an open by Mitch Garshofsky and the small blind calling cold. On the {9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop, action checked to the hijack, who bet 12,000. The small blind called, Garshofsky shoved for just under 40K, and the hijack snap-shipped it in behind. He had 52,100 and the small blind tank-called.

Garshofsky: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Hijack: {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Small blind: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Garshofsky was in a good position with his set, and the {3-Diamonds} and {10-Clubs} kept him best on the turn and river. The hijack won a small side pot to survive.

Berk Busted

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Michael Berk
Michael Berk

We missed the elimination of Michael Berk, but he shared some details after the fact.

According to him, he was on his second bullet when he ran pocket kings smack dab into aces.

Berk failed to get lucky and just like that he found himself on the rail.

While late registration and re-entries are open until approximately 6:15 p.m. local time, Berk indicated that he'll wait and try again in tomorrow's Day 1b flight, which will get underway at 11:10 a.m.

If You're Gonna Lose...

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

The headsup action was picked up on the river in a large pot on a board reading {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

Taylor Pollard had already checked and was deciding on whether or not to call the river shove from Ben Farrell. He finally made the call and saw that his ladies were no match for Farrell's rivered quads.

Ben Farrell: {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Taylor Pollard: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Prager Doubles

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

On a board of {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, Josh Prager bet 10,500 into about 14,000 from the small blind. His opponent in early position announced all in and Prager held up his {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for flopped quads. His opponent's cards quickly hit the muck and Prager collected about 36,000, having been covered by his opponent.

"That's the second time for you with quads today," someone said.

Heidbrick King in Six-Bet Pot; Crosses Into Six-Figure Territory

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Amanda Heidbrick

After Rodger Johnson raised under the gun, the next player to act three-bet it. The next player to act flatted and then Amanda Heidbrick four-bet from the big blind. Johnson folded, the UTG+1 player five-bet jammed, and the limper flatted again.

Heidbrick then six-bet shoved and the limper thought long and hard before folding his hand.

Amanda Heidbrick: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
UTG+1: {a-}{q-Spades}

Heidbrick had the best of it and was looking to avoid an ace, which she successfully did after the board ran out a safe {9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.
