Big Slick Does the Trick for Andrew Wall

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Andrew Wall
Andrew Wall

Andrew Wall moved all in for 52,000 from the hijack and Bryant Miller called from the big blind.

Andrew Wall: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Bryant Miller: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

It was a flip and Wall was looking to improve to stay alive. He managed to do just that when the {q-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop paired his ace. Neither the {q-Diamonds} turn nor {4-Diamonds} river were any help to Bryant and Wall shipped the double.

Kessler Falls But Immediately Re-Enters and Doubles

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Allen Kessler
Allen Kessler

Allen Kessler moved all in for 22,000 from middle position and was called by Bryant Miller in the small blind.

Allen Kessler: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Bryant Miller: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Kessler's best shot at staying alive was to catch an ace, but that didn't happen as the board ran out {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Spades} to give Miller jacks full.

Kessler was eliminated but made a beeline to the registration desk to exercise his re-entry option. Not long after he sat down, he jammed his 25,000 holding the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and received a call from a player holding the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. It was a flip, and Kessler won it after the board ran out {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

In addition to the $1,100 Main Event happening here at the MSPT Sycuan Casino, there were 10 other side events that awarded trophies. One of them was Event #4: $200 NLHE Ladies Event in conjunction with Poker League of Nations (PLON).

The tournament attracted 79 runners and awarded a $13,825 prize pool to the top eight finishers. One player there who cashed was PLON founder Lena Evans, who finished in third place for $1,908.

"The opportunity to host an MSPT PLON Powered Ladies Event at Sycuan in San Diego was originally suggested by PLON Executive Committee member Allen Kessler," Evans previously told PokerNews. "Allen connected me with MSPT President Bryan Mileski. Bryan and I then organized the details of our partnership together, and the first MSPT PLON event was born!"

It marked PLON's first live event back since March 2020.

In the end, Victoria Davidson-Castillo of West Covina, California bested Mary Jane Sarver in heads-up play to win the title for $4,701, the MSPT trophy, and a Tiffany bracelet. Additionally, all the finalists received a PLON backpack with gifts including apparel from Flop the World (FTW) and PLON merchandise, "The Biggest Bluff" book signed by Maria Konnikova, Solar Rain Water, Spades Sunshades sunglasses, Poker Elephant chips, and other goodies!

Allen Kessler got his last 12,000 all in preflop and was looking to come from behind to stay alive.

Allen Kessler: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Kessler had two live cards but failed to get any help on the {j-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop. Fortunately for him, the {10-Hearts} turn was just what he needed to take the lead. The {j-Clubs} river was no harm to Kessler and he collected the double.
