Veith Catches Liss on the River

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

As the following hand was starting, the table proclaimed Greg Liss, "Today's Dan," referencing Dan Bekavac's amazing day yesterday. Liss had already built a stack of around 100,000.

Edward Veith opened to 1,400 and found three callers, including Greg Liss in the cutoff.

The flop came out monotone with the {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Veith continued for 5,000, Liss made the call, while the other two players got out of the way.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and both players checked.

When the {3-Hearts} hit the river, Veith checked again. Veith promptly threw out 15,000.

"If you got it, you got it," said Veith as he made the call.

"I don't," replied Veith.

Veith showed {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for the over pair and the winner.

"He caught me," said Liss. He still has a very healthy stack, but a lot of work to do to match the 1,183,000 that Bekavac bagged yesterday.

Vang Navigates Tricky Spot

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Just before the break, a big, four-way hand took place.

A player in middle position opened to 800, two players called, a late position player, and the player in the small blind. Steve Zang saw all the action in front of him and put in the three-bet to 3,100. All three players called to go to a flop four-ways in the swelling pot.

The dealer put out {4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Vang bet 3,700 when checked to, the original opener and the small blind both callled.

On the {7-Hearts} turn, action checked to Vang again. After thinking for quite some time, he decided to check, and the player in position checked as well.

The river fell the {3-Clubs} and action checked to Vang. On the final street, he picked up the betting with a bet of 7,500. Action folded back to the big blind player who moved all in for about 22,000 effective, having Vang slightly covered.

After a tortuous time thinking it through, Vang made the call.

"Good call," said his opponent, who showed {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the missed flush draw.

Vang showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for the overpair.

"I wish you were a better player," said his opponent.

Vang laughed that comment off as the winner of the pot and stacked his new chips.

Steve Zang raised to 800 from early position and found three callers, including Byron Ziebell in middle position, the button player, and the big blind player.

The flop came out {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} amd Vang bet 1,100. Ziebell called, the button folded, then action was on the big blind. He raised to 3,300. Vang folded, but Ziebell called.

The turn was the {8-Spades} and the big blind continued for 4,500. Once more, he saw Ziebell call in position.

On the {a-Spades} river, the big blind slowed down with a check. Ziebell went for a bet of 11,500, and he sent his opponent into the tank.

"I feel like this is a bad call. You're a good player," Ziebell heard his opponent say. Finally, he did put in the call.

Ziebell showed {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for trips, in the end his opponent also had {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} for the same hand.

"After you started talking I wanted a call," said Ziebell. "I guess I didn't," he laughed.

Copeland Makes the Right Call

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Jeffrey Copeland
Jeffrey Copeland

Jeffrey Copeland found himself in the big blind and looking at a scary board in the river. The cards on the table were {7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

With about 4,000 in the pot, Copeland led for 3,000 into his sole opponent on the button. He saw his opponent put in the small raise to 7,000.

Pained at the spot, Copeland decided he couldn't fold his hand and tossed in the additional 4,000.

"You're good," said his opponent before mucking.

Copeland also slid his cards in face down to win the pot the the mystery hand.

Maker Makes Moves, Risks It All

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Action began on the river of a three-way pot with about 9,000 in the middle.

The board showed {2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Andrew Maker had moved his remaining stack of 6,600 into the pot. His first opponent was deep into the tank.

"Do you want a call?" he asked Maker. The dealer shut the table talk down in the three-way pot before Maker had a chance to say anything.

Eventually, both Maker's opponents folded.

"Bluff?" asked the tanker.

"Semi-blufff," said Maker, who showed {k-Hearts}{10-Spades} for second pair with the nut-flush blocker.

"That's a bluff, nice hand," said his opponent.
