Day 1a Completed
Day 1a of The Mid-States Poker Tour $1,110 Main Event at Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Michigan, has come to a close after seeing a record breaking 615 entrants.
A hard stop was reached with 28:00 left on the clock of the final level of the night, and 73 players found their way to a bag. Each of them are guaranteed a spot on Day 2 of what is soon to be the biggest tournament in Michigan history.
It was Matt Reed who ended up as the overall chip leader, bagging an overwhelming 763,000. Reed was a bigger stack throughout most of the day, but a massive pot where he held a Broadway straight against his opponent’s aces-up catapulted him into the lead, where he remained the rest of the tournament.

Action was picked up on the turn in a pot between Patricia Miller in the big blind, and Alec Magnam from under the-gun.
The board read and Miller checked to Magnam who bet 55,000 into the pot which Miller quickly called.
The river came out a and Miller checked once more, only to have Magnam moved all-in for 122,000 which sent Miller into the tank. After about 30 seconds Miller called and Magnam turned over for a missed open-ended straight draw. Miller turned over for a pair of sixes, which earned her gasps from the table as Magnam left the tournament.
