Day 1a of The Mid-States Poker Tour $1,110 Main Event at Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Michigan, has come to a close after seeing a record breaking 615 entrants.

A hard stop was reached with 28:00 left on the clock of the final level of the night, and 73 players found their way to a bag. Each of them are guaranteed a spot on Day 2 of what is soon to be the biggest tournament in Michigan history.

It was Matt Reed who ended up as the overall chip leader, bagging an overwhelming 763,000. Reed was a bigger stack throughout most of the day, but a massive pot where he held a Broadway straight against his opponent’s aces-up catapulted him into the lead, where he remained the rest of the tournament.
