Day 1b Completed
Another full day of action has played to its conclusion at the 2022 Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Running Aces $1,100 Main Event.
The second of three flights drew 282 entries to bring the two-day total thus far to 507 and with that number, the $300K GTD has already been surpassed with one flight remaining.
Of those 282 entries, 33 players remained when chips went into bags and 2016 MSPT Running Aces champ Jeremy Dresch found himself atop the counts with a stack of 680,000.
Dresch was the only player above to bag north of 600,000 this flight, while the top stacks are rounded out by five other players who finished the day north of 300,000: Clint Leitheiser (385,000), Dan Warner (360,000), Brandon Kelzenberg (356,000), Derek Stay (348,000), and Marius Toderici (341,000).
Much like Day 1a, the final level of the night saw an onslaught of casualties, with players such as Greg Kukowski and Jeff Fielder among those to be eliminated before play concluded for the night with chips flying all across the five remaining tables in the final level of play that led to a lot of players riding roller coasters with their stack sizes before becoming official for the evening.
Several other familiar players will also be joining the aforementioned top stacks. Tim Garles (295,000), Angela Jordison (248,000), two-time MSPT champ Taylor Howard (241,000), three-time MSPT champ Matt Kirby (227,000), and defending champ Jeffrey Birt (120,000), are just a few more of the players to add their names to the Day 2 roster along with the 25 to have already advanced from Day 1a.
Among those not as lucky at the felt included MSPT Hall of Famer's Jason Seitz, Pat Steele & Blake Bohn, along with MSPT Champ's Steve Wilkie, Josh Reichard, and Dan "DQ" Hendrickson, with at least a few if not all of them likely to be seen back in action for the final flight.
Day 1c will get underway at Noon on Saturday, April 9th. Late registration and re-entries will remain open through Level 12 (approximately 9:10 p.m.) PokerNews will be on hand to capture all the action, so be sure to join us then.

Ben Hanson opened for 13,000 from under the gun and only Nicholas Hammarstrom called sitting directly to his left.
The flop saw Hanson continue for 18,000 and Hammarstrom raised all in for 64,000.
Hanson thought briefly and then called after getting a confirmed amount.
Nicholas Hammarstrom:
Ben Hanson:
Hanson flopped top pair but was trailing Hammarstrom's pocket aces and neither the turn nor the river changed a thing as Hammarstrom collected his double-up.

James Lawrence opened under the gun only to fold after Clint Leitheiser three-bet jam for roughly 200,000 from the cutoff while Jeff Fielder called off his 125,000 stack from the button.
Jeff Fielder:
Clint Leitheiser:
It was a classic race with Fielder needing to connect with either of his two overs but neither came on the flop.
The turn did give Fielder the nut flush draw but the river was a brick and ended his Day 1b run.
