Alsup Chipping Up

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante
Rich Alsup
Rich Alsup

A hijack player opened to 900, Rich Alsup three-bet to 2,200 on the button, the big blind called, and the hijack called.

The {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop was checked through.

On the {q-Hearts} turn, action folded to Alsup who bet 2,600. That was enough to make his opponents fold, and Alsup added the chips to his stack.

Alsup is the MSPT all-time leader in earnings and final tables, and he will be looking to add to his totals in this event.

The most recent stop for the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) before coming to The Venetian Resort was at Bally’s Black Hawk Casino in Colorado.

The $1,110 Main Event wrapped up on January 30, and Denver’s Billyray Gallegos took home the top prize of $104,890 following a three-way deal made with Ronald Scott ($93,369) and Brady Bullard ($81,347).

Gallegos defeated a field of 683 entrants to claim the victory. He had just $7,283 in career tournament earnings before the win, making the tournament one to remember.

MSPT Season 12 Final Standings - Player of the Year

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante
Kyna England
Kyna England

Kyna England took down the Season 12 Player of the Year title after winning the MSPT Winter Poker Classic at Canterbury Park in December. She held off a late charge by Taylor Howard in the finale event of the year to become the first female Player of the Year in MSPT history.

Since its inception in 2009, the MSPT has done a great job keeping track of player stats. As a result, they have one of the best player databases in the industry.

On their "Leaderboards" page, the MSPT tracks such things as Career Earnings, Main Event Cashes, Main Event Final Tables, Main Event Titles, Total Cashes, Most Cashes/Final Tables in a Season, Most Final Tables All-Time, and much more.

Here's a look at the final standings in the Season 12 points race.
