Kath Goes Runner-Runner to Stay Alive

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Dick Kath got his 91,000 chips in from the big blind and was at risk against James Boettcher in early position.

Dick Kath: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
James Boettcher: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The {k-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds} improved Boettcher to top set and left Kath in rough shape and needing running cards to stay alive. The {j-Hearts} turn provided a glimmer of hope, and the {q-Spades} spiked the river to keep Kath's tournament life alive near the end of the day following the unlikely runout.

Bozkurt Finds Help Versus Wang

Level 15 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Ekrem Bozkurt got his 63,000 chips in preflop and was at risk against Michael Wang.

Ekrem Bozkurt: {a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}
Michael Wang: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

Bozkurt was in rough shape, although he picked up a gutshot draw on the {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop. That draw indeed hit on the {3-Diamonds} turn, and the {k-Diamonds} river confirmed Bozkurt's double.

Haq Doubles Through Shing

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

On a {q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, Bader Haq check-called in the big blind against a bet of 16,000 by Philip Shing in middle position.

The {10-Spades} fell on the turn, Haq checked, and Shing bet 55,000. Haq shoved in his stack of 121,000, and Shing called.

Bader Haq: {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Philip Shing: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Shing needed an ace, queen, or four to oust his opponent, but the {9-Hearts} completed the board to give the pot to Haq with two pair.
