Jaffee Busts One With Pocket Eights

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Jared Jaffee
Jared Jaffee

Jared Jaffee raised to 1,500 before the Rex Clinkscales called from the button and small blind came along too, but the big blind shoved for 4,200 and action was back on Jaffee.

Jaffee called and so did the Clinkscales before the small blind tossed in the chips to call.

The flop was {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and all three remaining players checked to see {3-Diamonds} on the turn.

The small blind checked and Jaffee fired 2,700, to which Clinkscales and small blind both folded. With two players left, the cards were turned up and Jaffee had {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} against the big blind's {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. The river was {5-Spades} and Jaffee held on to secure the knockout and take the pot.

Meanwhile, Chad Holloway reported that he was out of the tournament after his {k-}{k-} lost to {a-}{q-}.

Hlavaty Spikes River to Stay Alive

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Action was five-handed with around 10,000 in the pot and {4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs} on the board when action checked to Michael Hlavaty in middle position for a shove of his last 6,000. CJ Peake folded from the next seat over before the small blind called and the big blind went all in over everyone else. A lingering player folded from under the gun and the small blind got out of the way too and the pot was heads up with Hlavaty at risk.

Michael Hlavaty: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Big Blind: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The board ran out with {10-Spades}{a-Diamonds} and Hlavaty caught a pair of aces on the river to pick up the healthy pot and stay alive.

Elsewhere in the room, MSPT regulars DJ Buckley and Miles Barnum have taken their seat.

Season 13 is wrapping up and Josh Reichard has turned his 10 Main Event cashes in Season 13 into the top spot on the MSPT Player of the Year Leaderboard.

Reichard has the opportunity to cash in this weekend's event to bring his total to 11 on the season, but it would still be just short of record-holder Mike Shin's 12 cashes in Season 10.

For more MSPT stats across a number of different categories, check out their "Leaderboards" page.

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Michael Trivett
Michael Trivett

Action was heads up with around 8,000 in the middle and {q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs} on the board when Michael Trivett bet 6,000 and his opponent called from the cutoff.

The turn was {2-Clubs} and Trivett bet another 5,000. His opponent called again and the river was {j-Clubs}.

Trivett shoved the river for what looked like just over 11,000. After a few moments of thought, his opponent tossed his cards in the muck and gave up the pot.
