After just under four hours on Friday, it was Shea Quintin who took down the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) $1,600 Main Event at Venetian Las Vegas for $324,946 and his first MSPT title.

“I feel incredible,” the 26-year old said. “My previous best score was a little bit more than $28,000 and this is a little more than that.”

It was Quintin’s first trip out to Las Vegas as he lives in Florida and has only played a few tournaments out here. He was joined on the rail by his father and best friend who embraced him joyously as he won.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better rail," said Quintin, who bested a 1,644-entry field.

Hammer Calls With An Ace

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Justin Hammer
Justin Hammer

Action was picked up on the river on a board between Justin Hammer in early position and an opponent in the big blind with roughly 29,000 in the pot.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and the big blind moved all-in for 118,000 which sent Hammer into the tank. After some time thinking Hammer put in the call and both cards were tabled. ]

Big blind: {10-Spades}{6-Spades}
Justin Hammer: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Hammer's top pair was good enough to take down a significantly sized pot in the latter half of the night.

Tigran Abgaryan
Tigran Abgaryan

Action was picked up with two players all-in and Tigran Abgaryan having both players covered having called them. The pot contained roughly 110,000.

Player 1: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Player 2: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Tigran Abgaryan: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{8-Spades} and before the river rolled off, Abgaryan screamed "come on ace!" His wish was granted as the {a-Diamonds} hit the river to give Abgaryan aces-up for the victory to scoop a massive pot and eliminate two opponents.

Christopher Conrad

In second position, Christopher Conrad raised to 5,000 and action folded around to Conrad Simpson in the cutoff who moved all-in for 49,000 which folded action back around to Conrad who called to put Simpson at risk.

Conrad Simpson: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Christopher Conrad: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The flop came out {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} which gave Conrad a flush draw and Simpson a myriad of outs he needed to dodge. The turn of {q-Diamonds} did not change anything, but the river {4-Hearts} gave Conrad a flush and Conrad Simpson found himself eliminated at the hands of Christopher Conrad.
