Perez Gets a Fortunate Runout

Level 31 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

Juan Perez was in the small blind and called a raise to 450,000 from Cy Church, who was in the cutoff. Action went heads up to a flop of {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Perez checked to Church, who continuation-bet 775,000. Perez check-jammed and Church quickly called.

Juan Perez: {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Cy Church: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Perez had seen his two overcards called by top pair, top kicker, leaving him with six outs and two chances at hitting. The turn {k-Diamonds} added seven more outs to that total, and the river {a-Hearts} came behind to improve him to Broadway and earn the double. His stack was counted to be 2.5 million and Church paid him off, surpassing him in the counts along the way.

Clayton Ruff
Clayton Ruff

Juan Perez open-jammed under the gun for around 2 million and saw Clayton Ruff call all in for around 650,000 in the cutoff. All remaining players folded.

Clayton Ruff: {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Juan Perez: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Ruff spiked a three outer on the flop {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}, but the turn {3-Spades} gave Perez nine more outs to the nuts, one of which would hit on the river {q-Spades} to eliminate Ruff in sixth place.

Barb Visher Eliminated in 9th Place ($5,389)

Level 29 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante
Barb Visher
Barb Visher

"Well, since I'm tilting," said Barb Visher after losing the previous hand, tossing in a raise to 360,000 in the cutoff. Cy Church called on the button and action went heads up to af lop of {j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades}.

"Can I ask you a question?" said Visher to Church, looking over to him on her direct left. "What would a good player do?"

The table set about in laughter while Church cracked a visible smile, and then Visher followed it up by announcing she was all in. Church called.

Barb Visher: {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Cy Church: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Visher's top pair with a queen kicker was behind that of Church's, and she did not catch the three outer she needed as the turn {10-Diamonds} and river {a-Clubs} completed the runout to result in her being the first to fall at the final table.
