Day 1d Completed

Ludiker Leads Day 1d at MSPT Black Hawk $360 Regional

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Matthew Ludiker
Matthew Ludiker

The fourth and final starting flight of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) drew a packed house throughout the first half of the day and then some, ultimately seeing 347 entries bring the four-day total up to 998. After 15 full levels of play, Matthew Ludiker (370,000) was the one with the most chips of the 51 players still remaining when chips went into bags.

Ludiker had one of the biggest stacks in the room after play resumed from dinner and he rode his last 90 minutes of play to the top of the counts, winning a coin flip with ace-ten to pocket nines in the final level of the night to knock out a player for a pot that ultimately made him the chip leader at the end of the evening. Cy Church (328,000), Nader Wahdan (298,000), Scott Horvath (278,000), and Roger Low (277,000) made up the top five for the day.

Others to advance included Danny Gonzales (209,000), reigning champion Erasmus Morfe (208,000), Phil Gioia (181,000), Adrian Buckley (124,000), and Austin Peck (106,000).

Erik Macias, Corey Zedo, Barry Faecher, Kane Lai, and Greg Geller were among those less fortunate, failing to make it through the full day's worth of play.

A total of 144 will return for Sunday's Day 2 with 16 full tables' worth of players coming into the day with their sights set on being the last one standing. Of those 143, the top 108 will make it into the money with the eventual winner taking home $55,383.

PokerNews will be at it once more come then to take you all the way to the finish line. See you then.

Play Finished

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

All tables have finished their final five hands and players are in the process of putting chips into bags. Matthew Ludiker looks to be the end-of-day chip leader with 370,000 — a full list of chip counts and an end-of-day recap will be posted as soon as possible.

Five More Hands

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

The tournament clock has been stopped with 10 minutes remaining and 59 players left in contention across seven tables. Those tables will each play five more hands before finishing play for the day and ending with the celebratory bag-n-tag.

Garner Wakes Up With Aces

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Action folded around to the small blind, who jammed for 35,000 and received a rude awakening from Mike Garner in the big blind.

All-In Player: {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Mike Garner: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

A dry runout left the all-in player all out of chips, exclaiming good-naturedly as he left that at least he didn't have to come back to a stack of crumbs on Day 2. Garner now is pushing 200K with less than 20 minutes of play remaining in the evening.

Matthew Ludiker
Matthew Ludiker

Matthew Ludiker opened to 16,000 in the hijack and called a re-jam from the small blind for a total of 48,000.

All-In Player: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Matthew Ludiker: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The runout came {a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, giving Ludiker top pair on the flop and earning him the pot and the knockout. He now has just shy of 350,000, making him one of the largest stacks in the room as the final level of the evening has begun.

Morfe Sends One Home

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Erasmus Morfe
Erasmus Morfe

Action folded around to Erasmus Morfe on the button and he open-jammed with a covering stack over both blinds. The small blind obliged, doing so for his last 50,000.

All-In Player: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}
Erasmus Morfe: {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

A seven on the flop {7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{q-Clubs} just about spelled the end of it for the all-in player, and the turn {j-Clubs} left him drawing dead. The two players exchanged a fist bump as the river {8-Clubs} came to complete the runout and the pot was shipped to Morfe.

Peck Nabs a Dub

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

An early-position player limped and Austin Peck limped behind on the button. The small blind raised to 22,000 and action folded back to Peck, who went all in for 27,000. The small blind called the remaining 5,000 and hands were turned up in preparation for the runout.

Austin Peck: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Small Blind: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Peck flopped top pair on {6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and his hand stayed best as the turn {2-Diamonds} and river {j-Clubs} completed the runout.
