Van Syckle Wakes Up With Rockets

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Bob Van Syckle
Bob Van Syckle

Luke Blindert raised to 3,400 from middle position, the button player three-bet jammed for roughly 14,000 and Bob Van Syckle isolated from the big blind.

Bob Van Syckle: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Van Syckle woke up with the weapons of mass destruction but had a sweat after the {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop gave his opponent a gutshot straight draw.

Luckily for Van Syckle, the board completed with running cards {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} and secured him the pot.

Nikolai Triples With a Set of Ladies

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Pat Nikolai
Pat Nikolai

After a series of preflop raises, there was three-way all in action with Pat Nikolai holding the smallest stack of 9,800 from middle position.

Pat Nikolai: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Big Blind Player: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Each player held a made hand with Nikolai holding the best one and the {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop didn't change a thing.

The {q-Diamonds} turn gave Nikolai a sigh of relief as it secured him the triple-up while the {2-Hearts} river ended the big blind players tournament.

Recent MSPT Venetian winners include Chance Kornuth ($412,086) Harlan Miller ($367,801), Johnny Oshana ($130,000), James Carroll ($180,850), Korey Payne ($327,773), and Landon Tice ($201,529).

Who will be the next one to add their name to the list of aforementioned champions? PokerNews will be on hand to provide live updates as the answer to that question is determined.
