Whittington Loses a Flip To Bust

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Blake Whittington on Day 1
Blake Whittington on Day 1

Donnie Phan saw action fold to him on the button and opened to 17,000. Blake Whittington re-jammed in the small blind for 103,000 and Abbas Pasha came over the top for a bit more than 300,000. Phan went into the tank for about half a minute before mentioning having the clock called on him.

Tablemate Ramon Ziadeh asked him if he wanted the clock called on him and he affirmed, so Ziadeh called the clock. Tournament Director Jeremy Smith then came over and asked the dealer if Phan had had enough time to act, to which the dealer said he did not.

"He did not?!" asked Smith. A quick discussion sorted out the haps, with Smith understanding that Phan had brought about the situation in the first place.

"Do you want a clock called on you?" After a couple of moments, Phan said he did and Smith gave him 30 seconds to act. Phan then folded two queens face-up.

Blake Whittington: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Abbas Pasha: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

A jack appeared on the flop {2-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts} to leave Whittington with nothing but a few backdoors to stay alive. Running {6-Hearts}{q-Clubs} completed the board and Whittington was eliminated from the tournament by Pasha's set. Eric Phillip and Anthony Knepper were also recently eliminated, bringing the field down to 114.
