We have exciting news for poker fans around the world!

Given it's all the virtual series, we thought players and fans should have an interactive platform in which to engage with one another, as well as us here at PokerNews. That's why we've created a PokerNews Discord server and are inviting you to join our new community.

Discord specializes in text, image, video, and audio communication between users in a chat channel. It's a digital message board where you can share your thoughts with others who also love poker. The Pokernews Discord will give you a place to get caught up on what's going on in poker today and a place where you can share your thoughts with others.

Think of Discord as a house where different categories within the server are like a different room in the house. You can jump from one to the other to interact, gather information, or just have some fun.

We give you an area to share your bad beats, share your big wins, and talk about what is going on in poker today. We'll share links to live updates, highlight the biggest poker news, and offer special promotions.

Bekavac Bluffs Off a Heap

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

In a multi-way pot on the flop, only Dan Bekavac in the big blind and an opponent in early position saw the turn with {2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades} on the felt. The early player bet 6,000 and Bekavac check-called. On the {2-Clubs} river, Bekavac checked and faced a bet of 7,000. He responded with a raise to 21,000 which was quickly called.

Bekavac shook his head and tossed in {a-Spades}{k-Spades} for a missed combo draw, with the other player showing {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a full house.

Welcome to Day 1a of MSPT Riverside $1,100 Main Event

Riverside Casino
Riverside Casino

The Mid-States Poker Tour is all set to kick off a brand new event: MSPT Riverside $1,100 Main Event, located at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, 10 minutes south of Iowa City.

After about three weeks of satellite action, MSPT Riverside opens today with the first of two starting flights. Each starting flight will play through 15 levels or until 12% of the field remains. Players get 25,000 in their starting stacks — 5,000 coming from a $10 add-on — and action begins at 100/100/100, progressing up to 3,000/5,000/5,000 by day's end.

Should a player run dry on chips, he or she may only reenter once per starting day, for a max of four bullets total.

The tournament carries a guarantee of $200,000, and early indications from the satellite and cash action point to a big field here in the next two days, with survivors from the first two flights playing down to a winner on Sunday.

Stay tuned here on PokerNews to follow all of the action on Day 1a.
