Tricky Check Gets Baik Paid

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

It was 1,800 threeways to a {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop and the action checked to Katie Kopp in the cutoff. She fired out 2,500 and only Lakwon Baik called.

The turn brought the {q-Spades} and both players checked to the {2-Hearts} river.

Baik checked again and Kopp bet out 2,000. Baik pulled out raising chips to the tune of 10,000 total and Kopp quickly called.

Baik rolled over {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the heart flush and Kopp mucked her holding.

Moon Put into the Blender, Loses to Straight Flush of Graff

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Duane Graff
Duane Graff

With the board showing {j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Spades} and 1,000 in the pot, Ben Moon already had a bet of 4,500 in front of him but was facing an all-in from Duane Graff.

Moon was deep in the tank.

"Brutal sir," he said. "I guess I'll just gamble with you."

Moon continued to think things over for a few moments.

"I have such a big hand," said Moon. "Did you play yesterday?"

"I did," said Graff.

Eventually, Moon cut out a stack of chips to call.

"Did you flop the nuts," asked Moon?

Duane Graff: {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Ben Moon: {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Graff had flopped the nut straight while Moon held two pair, with outs to a full house. The {7-Spades} hit the turn and the {6-Spades} drilled the river to give Graff the rarely seen straight flush. Moon was left short while Graff becomes an early chip leader.

Gorenc Rivers an Ace on Alsup

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

With the flop showing {2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}, MSPT Hall of Famer Rich Alsup check-raised a bet of 300 from Martin Gorenc up to 900. Gorenc called and the turn brought the {8-Diamonds}.

Alsup continued for 1,000 and Gorenc called again.

The {a-Spades} hit the river and both players checked. Gorenc turned over {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for a rivered pair of aces and Alsup tossed his cards into the muck.
