Day 1b has come to an end at the Mid Stakes Poker Tour (MSPT) $1,110 Main Event at Sycuan Casino in San Diego. The United States Poker Championship $300,000 guaranteed tournament saw 132 runners entries but only 15 advanced.

This brings the total number of entries to 251, practically ensuring the tournament will smash the guarantee on the final Day 1c flight tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. local time.

Pat McCool (445,000) from Temecula bagged the big stack. He tripled up about halfway through the day with ace-king and never looked back.

A few of the others to find a bag to end the night included Sherry Hammers (336,000), Massoud Eskandari (304,000), Mary Anne Madruga (300,000), and Kyna England (140,000).

All players who advance will return Sunday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m. where they will join the 18 players from 1a to play down to a winner.

Some of those to bust throughout the day included well-known players Rich Alsup, Benjamin Moon, Chris Smith, Jonathan McGowan, DJ Buckley, and Katie Kopp.

Keep up with the all updates here on PokerNews as a new MSPT champion is crowned.

End of Day

Level 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The field was narrowed down to 12% before the end of Level 15 so play has come to an end with 15 players advancing to Day 2.

A full recap of today's events will be posted shortly.

Chapman Finds a Double

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With the flop showing {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{5-Hearts}, Jeff Chapman bet 20,000 and he found one caller to the {2-Diamonds} turn.

Chapman shoved his remaining 67,000 and was called to be put at risk.

Jeff Chapman: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Chapman was in front with his pair of queens and the river was of no consequence as he took the pot.

Brush and Nordin Both Stay Alive

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Daryn Brush

There were more fireworks happening with Brayan Noriegasolis as he had two players at risk preflop.

Brian Nordin: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Daryn Brush: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Brayan Noriegasolis: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

It was an aces vs kings cooler in favor of Brush, but the {4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades} runout gave Nordin sevens full to scoop the main pot. Brush doubled for his remaining 128,000 and Noriegasolis lost a chunk of his big stack.

Eskandari Sends One Out

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

There was a shove for 25,000 and both David Para and Massoud Eskandari called.

Both Eskandari and Para checked down to the {4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{4-Spades} river and Eskandari bet 20,000. Para called.

Eskandari showed {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for queens full to take the score and eliminate a player.

Noriegasolis Cannot Be Stopped Right Now

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

With the flop showing {3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, a player shoved for their last 13,000 and Pat McCool called.

Brayan Noriegasolis was next to act and he cut out a stack of raising chips, prompting a quick fold from McCool.

Short Stack: {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Brayan Noriegasolis: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Noriegasolis was ahead with his cowboys and the {k-Diamonds} turn gave him a set to end the sweat. The {9-Clubs} peeled off on the river and he now has about half a million chips.
