Spaulding Keeps Stacking

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Happy Spaulding opened to 6,000 in early position, and got a call from an opponent in the small blind.

Both players checked the {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. The small blind bet 6,000 on the {4-Hearts} turn, Spaulding min-raised to 12,000, and the small blind folded.

Adrianne Hall
Adrianne Hall

Adrianne Hall told PokerNews about a hand that left her with one of the biggest stacks in the room approaching the final break of Day 1a.

Three players got all-in preflop, including Hall on the big blind with pocket kings. Her opponents turned over pocket aces and {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, respectively.

The flop came {10-Spades}{j-Spades}{q-}, giving the player with {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} a straight. The turn fell {3-Diamonds}, but the river {9-} gave Hall a king-high straight.

Hall's stack appears to be right around 265,000 as Day 1a begins to winds down.

Dantram Huynh
Dantram Huynh

Dantram Huynh and Julian Gonzalez arrived at the river with a big pot already brewing. With the board showing {5-Spades}{j-Spades}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Gonzalez checked from the big blind, and Huynh went all in for 65,000.

Gonzalez, with the shorter stack, tanked for a bit, then called. Huynh showed {a-Spades}{4-Spades} for the flopped nuts, sending Gonzalez out of Day 1a action.

Spaulding Sends Gonzalez to the Exit

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Adrian Gonzalez told PokerNews the details of his elimination hand, which happened at the hands of Happy Spaulding.

Gonzalez opened to 5,500 in early position with {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}, and got three callers. Gonzalez and Spaulding got all of the chips in on the {6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop, with Gonzalez covered.

Spaulding tabled {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a flopped set, which improved to quads on the {4-Diamonds} turn. An inconsequential {9-Clubs} fell on the river, and Gonzalez first bullet on Day 1a expired.
