Pre Dinner Casualties

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Jason Gray had lost half of his stack and was all in for 10,400 with the {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, which David Wang had dominated with the {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}. The board came {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and that spelled the end for Gray.

"You still have time Jason," Michael O'Grady said in table chat, referring to the possible re-entry until the end of the upcoming dinner break.

It would be O'Grady that also ran out of chips two hands later when his {k-Spades}{10-Spades} failed to connect with the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} board when facing Tolly Sakellariou and his {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} in showdown.

Gray had re-entered before the end of the level, while O'Grady may still do so. Hussein Hassan and Mikael Larsson also busted, fewer than 40 players remain.

Queen-Jack Spells The End for Yazbeck

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Mark Yazbeck
Mark Yazbeck

Mark Yazbeck bet the turn and river of a board {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for 16,000 and 35,000 respectively, and Jarrod Thatcher called both times. Yazbeck turned over {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a bluff gone wrong and Thatcher scooped the big pot with {a-Spades}{10-Spades}.

One hand later, Nurlan Boobekov jammed the button and Yazbeck in the big blind called all in for around 27,000.

Mark Yazbeck: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Nurlan Boobekov: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} flop and {9-Hearts} turn kept Yazbeck in the lead, but the {10-Diamonds} river gave Boobekov a straight and Yazbeck banged his hand on the table in disgust. Several players from nearby tables glanced over as to what happened.

In the very next hand, Rehman Kassam raised and picked up one caller. Thatcher three-bet to 20,000 and Kassam jammed for around 90,000 to force folds.

Big Stack for Boskovic Sr

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Rory Young check-called a bet of 8,000 by Dejan Boskovic Sr on the {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} turn and did so again for 22,000 on the {a-Hearts} river to get shown the {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} by Boskovic Sr. The straight to the jack won the pot as Young's stack was nearly cut into half.

Hawes Into the Chip Lead

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The board read {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} with around 65,000 in the middle already.

Robert Spano had bet 21,500 from the small blind and Charlie Hawes responded with a shove on the button which sent Spano into the tank.

Spano shook his head several times, looked at his cards once more, stared at the board a bit longer, and then reluctantly folded.

Wakeman Busted by Huang

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Matthew Wakeman
Matthew Wakeman

Vincent Huang raised to 4,000 from the hijack and Matthew Wakeman shoved from the cutoff for 38,400. Action folded back to Huang who snap-called.

Matthew Wakeman: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Vincent Huang: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} to not bring any help to Wakeman as he was sent away from the feature table. He might be back though as the registration and reentry period is still open for a bit more than an hour.
