Greenwood Moves Over a Million

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Sam Greenwood raised on the button to 12,000 and Cary Katz called in the big blind.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Katz checked. Greenwood put out a bet of 20,000 and Katz called.

On the {3-Hearts} turn, Katz checked again. Greenwood put out another bet, making it 25,000 and Katz called once more.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Katz changed gears, putting out a small bet of 6,000. Greenwood mulled it over but ultimately decided to jsut call.

"Shit," Katz said. "I should've just jammed."

Katz showed his {Q-Spades}{2-Spades} for a bluff gone wrong.

"You're not getting through with a jam," Greenwood responded. He showed his {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and that would earn him the pot with two pair.

Schulman Folds the Turn

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Nick Schulman raised to 13,000 in the hijack with {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, Gabe Patgorski called in position with {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Phil Ivey joined from the big blind with {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

All three players looked at a preferable flop for their respective hands as the {3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs} appeared on the table. Patgorski fired 25,000 and both Ivey and Schulman check-called.

The {10-Spades} saw Patgorski bet 55,000 and Ivey laid his hand down. Schulman burned a timebank and then let it go.

Kenney Bricks His Big Draw

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Bryn Kenney raised to 14,000 in the first position and called when Peter Jetten three-bet to 42,000 out of the cutoff.

Both players connected to the {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} pot. Kenney checked his nut flush draw with {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and Jetten fired 38,000 with {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. Kenney opted to call and he picked up a straight draw on the {10-Clubs} turn.

Kenney checked again and Jetten barrelled for 85,000. Kenney had 278,000 left in front of him and he paused for a moment before calling. He bricked on the {A-Diamonds} river and checked again, knowing there wasn't a way for him to claim the pot. Jetten shoved and Kenney had to throw his cards away.

Leow Takes More Chips From Juanda

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

We arrived when the action was already closed and the cards were on their backs. It became apparent that Ivan Leow doubled through John Juanda after winning a contest with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} against {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. The board of {5-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} was very decisive and Juanda had to ship 199,000 to Leow.

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Ivan Leow
Ivan Leow

John Juanda opened with a raise to 14,000 and Ivan Leow called on the button with his short stack. Next to act was Chan Wai Leong in the small blind and he three-bet, making it 62,000. Action folded back to Juanda who four-bet all in. Leow tanked for a bit then called for 77,000. Chan then dropped into the tank, using a time extension before folding.

Ivan Leow: {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
John Juanda: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

"Oh," Juanda said. "That's a good flop for that hand."

The turn was the {5-Spades} giving Leow two pair now.

"Chop it up," Juanda said with a smile.

The river was the {7-Clubs} which gave Leow a better two pair, and allowed him to double up, and nearly triple up with Chan's three-bet in the pot as well.

Stanley Choi open-shoved for 98,000 with {A-Spades}{4-Hearts} in the hijack and JC Alvarado looked him up from the button, turning up {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}

Choi trailed but the {9-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} put him ahead. Alvarado could sweat some more outs when the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn but the {A-Clubs} river stayed with Choi who locked the double.

Kenney Catches Schulman's Bluff

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

On the flop of {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, Nick Schulman checked with {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} in the big blind and Bryn Kenney fired 10,000 out of the cutoff, holding {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

Schulman called and they both checked the {Q-Diamonds} turn. Schulman missed his gutshot on the {4-Clubs} but he tried to steal the pot, betting 50,000 into 57,000. Kenney wasn't happy with his situation but he was eventually able to pull the call.

Chidwick Scoops With a Continuation Bet

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Under the gun, David Peters raised to 13,000 with {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and JC Alvarado flatted with {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} in the cutoff. Stephen Chidwick also found the {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and he squeezed to 55,000 on the button. Peters let his hand go and Alvarado called.

The {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} landed on the table and Chidwick fired 30,000 in position, forcing a fold from Alvarado.

Peters Prepares for a Bluff, Then Changes His Plan

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

David Peters raised to 15,000 in the cutoff, holding {K-Spades}{9-Spades} and JC Alvarado peeled {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} on the button. Alvarado three-bet to 45,000 and Peters decided to call.

They went to the {7-Spades}{A-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop and Alvarado continued with a small bed of 32,000. Peters asked Alvarado to clear the view of his stack and then floated.

The {A-Diamonds} double paired the board on the turn and both players tapped the felt. Peters spiked some showdown value on the {9-Diamonds} river and reconsidered his plans and skipped the bluff. He checked, Alvarado checked back and took the pot with higher two pair.
