Duc Tuan Tran
Duc Tuan Tran

Yi Yang raised to 3,000 and was called by Duc Tuan Tran in the big blind, who after his early tussles with Konstantin Voronin had only 29,000 behind to the A102 flop. Tran check-called for 2,500 and checked the 7 on the turn.

Yang bet 15,000 and called Tran's shove for 26,000.

Tran needed a king to survive but the river was the 7 to end his first bullet of the day at the end of level two.

Voronin Strikes Big Blow Against Tran

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Konstantin Voronin
Konstantin Voronin

Duc Tuan Tran raised to 3,000 and Alexey Borovkov three-bet to 12,000 in the small blind. Konstantin Voronin called in the big blind, as did Tran on the button. On the J104 flop, Borovkov bet 15,000 and Voronin called. Tran raised to 42,000, picking up calls from both opponenents.

On the 5 turn, only Voronin check-called for 80,000 when Tran bet and they checked the 7 on the river. Voronin exposed the A10 and the pair of tens was good to win the massive pot in the first level of the day.

Qiu Loses Loads to Mezei

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Antal Mezei raised to 3,500 and Quan Qiu called to the K32 flop, on which Qiu check-called for 3,000. On the 10 turn, Qiu checked again and Mezei bet 21,000 for his opponent to call. The river brought the Q for a straight and flush draw that got there. Qiu checked the third street in a row and Mezei now fired a bet of 45,000.

Qiu burned through three time bank extensions before he called and mucked when he was shown the AJ for broadway.

Get Ready For Day 1B of the $8,000 Triton ONE Main Event

Triton ONE
Triton ONE

The inaugural $8,000 Triton ONE Main Event continues on today with the second of two starting flights at Landing Casino on South Korea's Jeju island and, like the previous starting flight, is expected to attract big names.

Those big names could include Poker Hall of Famer Phil Ivey, whose Day 1a appearance was short-lived, as well as other top pros who failed to bag the first flight including Alex Foxen, Jesse Lonis, Mike Watson and tournament poker's second-most-winningest player, Stephen Chidwick.

Day 1b, which kicks off at noon local time, will follow the same structure as Day 1a, meaning players will begin with starting stacks of 250,000 and blinds will start at 500/1,000/1,000.

Levels will once again be 40 minutes in duration with 15-minute breaks every three levels and a 45-minute dinner break after Level 9. After 15 levels, the players will bag and then join the Day 1a survivors for Day 2 on Sunday, Sept. 7.

The field won't include the 103 players who bagged the first starting flight, among them Justin Saliba, Ren Lin, Jun Obara, Stephen Song and Shiina Okamoto, as well as Day 1A chip leader Chih-Yuan Wang, the only player to bag a hundred-plus big blind stack.

It could, however, include those who were unable to play yesterday due to deep runs in the $10,000 Mystery Bounty, including third-place finisher Kristen Foxen, runner-up Thi Xoa Nguyen and Xiaqing Ji, who won the trophy and $245,000 in the early-morning hours.
