Triton Jeju II Day 2: Who Will Be Crowned the First Champion of the Festival?
Well, yesterday was fun, wasn't it? Let's do it all over again today, only this time, there's silverware on the line.
Day 2 has arrived, and with it comes the first title fight of the Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju II. The opening event, the $15,000 NLH 8-Handed, returns with 28 players still in contention, all chasing the $642,000 top prize and that most prized of poker possessions: a Triton title.
The opening tournament drew 204 entries to create a $3,090,000 prize pool, with the bubble bursting late on Day 1 to leave every returning player guaranteed at least $25,500. There is plenty more to play for, however, with the payouts climbing rapidly as the final 28 battle their way towards the final table.
Wai Kiat Lee leads the way with 3,500,000 chips, narrowly ahead of Punnat Punsri (3,465,000) and Alexandros Theologis (3,215,000). Bernhard Binder and Adrian Mateos complete the top five, while Nick Petrangelo, Jesse Lonis, Daniel Dvoress and Xuan Liu are among the other big names still in the hunt.
Play resumes at 1:00 p.m. local time, with the action hitting the live stream from 2:00 p.m. as the field plays down to a champion.
Then at 3:00 p.m., attention turns to the $20,000 NLH 8-Handed as the second event of the festival gets underway. We're in for a treat!
