Two for The Firm

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
David Lappin
David Lappin

Dara O`Kearney was on the button having called an under the gun open from Timothy Davie, a young PokerStars qualifier, and had reached the river on a board reading {2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. Davie checked it over to O`Kearney, probably hoping for a cheap showdown. No such luck as O`Kearney bet a decent 4,000. Davie riffled his chips and went over the action and the board. Could he really have it? O`Kearney checked his hole cards again and Davie threw his hand away.

Over at an adjacent table fellow member of the Irish Poker crew “The Firm”, David Lappin, was tangling with Isle of Man resident Richard Baldwin. They both checked a flop of {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{a-Diamonds}, but Baldwin bet 800 on the turn {9-Hearts}. Lappin made the call and they saw a river {3-Hearts}. Baldwin checked and Lappin made a bet of 575. Baldwin must have been suspicious of the bet size as he called and mucked when Lappin turned over {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} for top pair.

Tighe Curries Favour from the Poker Gods

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Daniel TIghe has shot up to 55,000 after winning an almost unavoidable clash with kings vs aces.

All the money went in preflop, it was Tighe's {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} up against Calum Morrissey's {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and as the board came {3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Tighe jokingly apologised in advance before the river. And then suddenly it came out... the {K-Clubs} for the two-outer.

There was a countdown and Tighe had his opponent outchipped.

Heaven knows Morrissey is miserable now.

Blain on the Brink

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Dermot Blain
Dermot Blain

Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Dermot Blain is down to a tricky stack of 7,800 but is making sure he makes the right decisions with it. Sam Razavi, on his right, opened for 400, Blain called on the button, as did the big blind, Robert Schulz from Germany. They saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. Schulz checked, Razavi bet 750 and Blain called. Schulz had been lying in wait however and now moved all-in for just over 6,000. Razavi had been at it and threw his cards away immediately. Blain couldn’t believe the situation he was facing and pinched the top of his nose in frustration. A few calculations later he threw away his hand with a pained expression.

It was Blain’s turn to raise from the cut-off next hand for 500. Karl-Fredrik Stromberg from the Isle of Man was his only caller from the big blind. They saw a flop of {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and they both checked. The {8-Hearts} on the turn saw Stromberg lead out for 675 and Blain made the call. A river card of {4-Diamonds} and Stromberg thought better of continuing and checked to Blain. He announced “Three two.” and threw out a blue t5000 chip. “How much will you have left?” asked Stromberg. Seeing Blain's remaining stack, Stromberg folded and tapped the table.

Kondaj Eliminated

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

It is game over for Arjanit Kondaj, his last few thousand chips went all in on a {5-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board with {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} against Jonathan Lynas' {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}. The {4-Clubs} turn teased some split outs but Lynas rivered the nuts with the {Q-Hearts} coming on the end. Kondaj is the fourth player to bust out today.

Nitsche Wants a Look

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Dominik Nitsche had bet out for 2,400 into a pot of 4,300 on the turn. The board read {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Nitsche faced a raise from Sascha Koch to 7,650, who had about the same amount behind. Nitsche thought for a few minutes but was finally convinced to fold his hand. “Show me?” He asked hopefully but Koch would not oblige. “Pretty unfair if he has top two pair.” He remarked to his neighbour.
