Stromberg Picks Off McCann Bluff

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

On the turn of a {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} board, Lee McCann fired out a bet of 4,000, David Kilpatrick folded but Karl-Fredrik Stromberg made the call to see the {4-Spades} on the river.

McCann bet again, 6,500 was the number this time and Stromberg called without even thinking.

McCann showed a missed {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and Stromberg picked up the pot with {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and jumped up to 40,000. McCann was left with 18,000 after the hand.

Ward Chipping Up

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jamie O'Connor opened for 800 in mid-position and got one caller in Tom Ward. The two players saw a flop of {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Check by Ward, 1,300 from O’Connor and Ward called. They checked the next two streets {9-Clubs} and {j-Hearts}. When Ward showed his {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} O’Connor nodded and mucked.

Bull Barrels

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Robbie Bull opened for 800 on the button and the blinds were in no mood to fold to a min-raise at this point. Isle of Man resident Andrew Campbell called in the small blind as did Matthew Mckenzie in the big blind. They saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Checked to the raiser, Bull continued for 1,325 and got one caller in Campbell. {10-Clubs} on the turn and Campbell checked. There was a pause as Bull assessed his options and he decided that 3,200 was the right amount. Campbell riffled his chips and wondered if his hand was still good. Perhaps the prospect of a river bet was too much and he let the hand go, waiting for a better spot.

Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

Niall Farrell is the first player over the 100,000 mark after he had a 16,500 bet paid off on the river of a {6-Clubs}{A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{6-Spades} board against Daniel Tighe.

Farrell showed {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for improbable trips while Tighe flashed {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts} lamenting the fact he hadn't shoved on the turn.

Release the Rockets

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Lee McCann bet 3,300 on a board of {10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and with one card to come and a decent sized pot building Kovacs Gergo from Hungary made the call. The last card was the {q-Hearts} and McCann took a stack of T1000 chips, enough to put Gergo all-in, and pushed them forward. Gergo folded {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} face up in disgust. It’s not Guy Fawkes Night until the 5th of November but Gergo felt he had to release those pocket rockets facing the fire power of McCann’s bets. After the chips were stacked and the smoke had cleared a little, McCann said to a visibly upset Gergo, “If it makes you feel any better I had a king.” We’re not sure that it did.
