It looks like Rational Group Employee Chris Straghalis is determined to make a name for himself. Straghalis opened under the gun for 1,500 and was raised to 4,000 by David Gill who had about 8,000 behind. David Lloyd in late position called the raise, and when the blinds folded Straghalis checked Gills’ stack and put in the extra chips. Three players saw a flop of . Straghalis checked and Gill bet 6,000, a clear statement of intent. Lloyd folded and Straghalis moved all in. Seemingly caught with his hand in the cookie jar Gill seemed to have no option and folded.

Dominik Nitsche asked Niall Farrell how many UKIPTs he has played. “About ten.” he replied. “Ever played the PCA?” Probed Nitsche. When he heard the answer was no, Nitsche tried to persuade him to give it a go, extolling the benefits and dropping in to the conversation that he was payed $1,000 for every player he referred. “I’ll split it with you.” came the generous incentive from Nitsche.
Jonathan Weekes opened for 1,275 and was raised to 3,500 by Paul McTaggart. Having sized up each other’s remaining stacks Weekes moved all-in and was called. Weekes tabled and was the player at risk, racing against the of McTaggart. The flop came down giving McTaggart a significant lead. Chip leader Niall Farrell was at the same table and piped up to needle his friend McTaggart. “Ten, ten.” He called, but the on the turn and river were no help to Weekes and he was out.
Farrell then decided to entertain the table with the story of McTaggart’s EPT London adventure. He had been due to play Day 1a of the main event but had ended up still out enjoying the less salubrious side of what London has to offer at 8am. Calling the venue to see if he could move to Day 1b Farrell advised his friend to say his car had broken down or some other misfortune. Taking up the story McTaggart admitted, “I couldn’t tell I lie. I told her I was still drunk.” The woman on the other end of the line laughed for a few minutes and replied that unfortunately that wasn’t reason enough to move days.
