Cheng Bets Big on the River

Joining the action on the river with the board {q-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Clubs} with 8,000 in the pot.

Shuaida Cheng was in the big blind against Alicia Richardson who was under the gun. Cheng bet 7,000 which put Richardson into the tank. She eventually slowly slid her cards back to the dealer as the chips went in Cheng's direction.

Kevin Houghton led out from the big blind for 2,500 before Francis Obadun raised him to 8,500 from early position. The third opponent in the pot folded before Houghton, fresh out of a five-figure score at this years WSOP, went into the tank. Houghton eventually conceded the pot to Obadun as he folded.

Arian Hassankashani was in the small blind and bet 2,500. His opponent was Ali Mallu in middle position who made the call. Hassankashani showed {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for trip threes. Mallu couldn't beat that and handed his cards back to the dealer as the chips went in his opponents direction.

Action checked to Saleem Sadiq in early position who bet 5,000. Only Conal Prendergast called from the small blind.

The river was the {7-Hearts} and action went check-check. Prendergast showed {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for a full house to claim the pot as Sadiq mucked his hand.

Ryan Spittles raised to 600 from under the gun and was called by a player in middle position before Thomas Hemming three-bet to 2,300 from the cutoff. Nicholas Stylianou cold called on the button. Both Spittles and the middle position player came along.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. Spittles, Hemming and Stylianou were all in on the flop.

Spittles had flopped a straight and Stylianou had flopped a set while Hemming had the nut flush draw. Stylianou stood up while the other players remained sitting.

The turn was the {5-Spades} which kept Spittles in the lead. However the river came the {8-Clubs} which paired the board and gave Stylianou the triple up. Spittles won the side pot with his straight.

There was 2,000 in the middle as action was four-ways to the flop of {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

Action checked to Jack Morris-Holland on the button who bet 1,500. James Millman and Duncan Mclellan called in the blinds as well as Francis Obadun in the cutoff.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and action checked through.

The {10-Spades} was the river and Mclellan bet 3,200 from the big blind. Everyone folded and Mclellan showed {8-Hearts}{x-} for three-of-a-kind.

Duncan Mclellan is a former UKIPT Nottingham Main Event winner having defeated a field of 1,223 back in 2014 to claim the grand prize of over £200,000

Duffy Doubles in Set Over Set

There was 11,000 in the pot as the board read {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Andrew Duffy was in the small blind and bet 7,500 before Corin Field moved all in for 38,600 from early position. Duffy said to Field "What do you think I have?" as he faced a decision. He eventually made the call. Field showed {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a set of fours however it was no good as Duffy showed {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a set of fives.

Field had Duffy slightly covered but at left short stacked as Duffy doubled up early.

Jean Lhullier was in the small blind against James Whyte in early position. Action checked through.

The turn was the {q-Hearts} and action checked to Whyte who bet 1,800. Lhullier folded which surrendered the pot to Whyte.
