Welcome to Day 1b of the PokerStars UKIPT Blackpool Main Event

Welcome to Day 1b of the PokerStars UKIPT Blackpool Main Event, running at Grosvenor Casino at The Sandcastle. This is the second of three flights and will begin at 12 p.m local time.

In exchange for their buy-in of £1,100, players will recieve a 30,000 chips, which is a 300 big blind starting stack. Blinds start at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante and levels progress every 40-minutes, with regular breaks throughout the day.

Day 1b will play down to 15 percent of the field and those who survive will make it through to Day 2 and into the money. It is expected to be the busiest of the flights. Day 1c is also running tonight at 6 p.m. local time and will feature turbo 20-minute blind levels.

Players can opt to have up to three entries per flight.

Sam Grafton finished Day 1a as chip leader with 342,000, followed by Dale Hancock in second and Jessica Pilkington in third. Whether they remain at the top of the counts will depend on the outcome of the flights still to come.

The UKIPT Blackpool Main Event runs until Sunday night, at which point a new champion will be crowned.

Mather Eliminates Evastratiev With Queens Versus Jacks

Christopher Holmes open raised from middle position, Samuel Mather three-bet from the button, and Teodor Evstratiev four-bet from the big blind. Holmes folded and Mather five-bet all in. Evstratiev casually flicked a chip in to call and players flipped over their cards, with Evstratiev at risk.

Evstratiev had pocket jacks and Mather had pocket queens. The board ran out 55388 and neither player improved, so Mather held up to win the pot for a near-double up. Evstratiev was eliminated from the tournament early.

The turn came the 7 and Walsh checked. Steward bet 2,200 and Walsh called. The river was the Q and Walsh checked again. Steward bet out 8,000 and Walsh scratched his head and shrugged before throwing in a chip to call.

Steward showed AQ and Walsh mucked his hand.

Bebb showed A5 for a missed flush draw that he'd turned into a bluff. Pyke showed KQ for a pair of kings and scooped over the chips.

Action folded around to Yuet Wong, who raised from the button. David Docherty reraised to 7,500 and Wong went all in for 33,800. Docherty started talking himself through the hand before making the call. The two players flipped their cards, with Wong at risk.

The board ran out 491032. Neither player improved and so Wong held with his ace high to win the pot and leave Docherty with just a few hundred behind.


The following hand, Vikrum Mehta raised to 1,800 from middle position and Docherty placed the rest of his stack over the line. The player in the small blind also called.

The flop came 10A6 and both players in the side pot checked. The turn was the K. The small blind checked and Mehta bet 2,000. His opponent folded and Docherty and Mehta flipped their cards.

Docherty had AQ for a pair of aces and Mehta had K10 for two pair. The river came a blank and Mehta won the pot. Docherty was eliminated but has since been seen re-entering the tournament.

"This is probably terrible," said Johnston before eventually making the call.

Slater showed 77 for pocket sevens that he'd turned into a bluff. Johnston showed Q10 for a pair of queens and scooped a pot that doubled him up.
