First Break on Day 1a

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

The players have been sent on their first 20-minute break of the day and the tournament screens show 243 out of 247 players remaining. The registration for the first of two flights remains open for another two levels and the next break.

Staengle Busts to Cap Bun

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

Joining the action on the {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{A-Spades} turn, Alexander Staengle checked out of the small blind and Teodor Cap Bun bet 1,825 from under the gun. Staengle, who had around 11,500 behind, gave it brief consideration and then announced all in. Cap Bun quickly tossed in a single chip for the call.

Alexander Staengle: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Teodor Cap Bun: {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The {8-Clubs} on the river failed to improve Staengle and he quickly left the tournament area.

Purice Forces Fold on the River

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

After a raise to 450 by Gerret van Lancker, two players including Sorin Agapie in the cutoff called. Out of the small blind, Tudor Purice raised to 2,200 and just Agapie called. Both remaining players checked the {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop and the {8-Spades} turn. On the {6-Clubs} river, Purice bet 4,700 and that did the trick to force a fold.

Another Pot for Guiodo

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

The player in under the gun raised to 600 and picked up three callers with Tristan Guiodo coming along from the button. Both players in the blinds then checked the {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop and the initial raiser bet 1,100. Only Guiodo called and the {8-Clubs} fell on the turn. Now the initial raiser checked and Guiodo took down the pot uncontested with a bet of 1,600.

Flesner Takes from Soukup

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

On the three-way flop of {K-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}, action checked to Martin Soukup and he bet 550. Kare Skrunes called and Emanuel Flesner then check-raised to 2,100. Only Soukup called and the {3-Clubs} on the turn triggered a bet of 3,000 by Flesner. Soukup called and the {5-Hearts} fell on the river.

Flesner again quickly bet, making it 6,000 to go, and that forced a fold from Soukup.

Spataru Reads Pettersson Like a Book

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

There were just 4,800 in the pot with the board showing {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and three players were still in. Action checked to Johan Pettersson and he bet 10,000. One opponent folded and Bogdan Spataru looked over, then asked if Pettersson had three queens. The Swede said nothing and Spataru folded after brief consideration, before Pettersson slowly turned over the {Q-Diamonds} followed by the {Q-Spades} for ... a set of queens!

First Casualty of Day 1a

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

Diogo Almeida has been the first casualty of the day and David Vanderheyden's stack has melted to one third of what he started with after investing a lot of chips in a five-bet pot before folding to a shove. Alexander Staengle and Dan Murariu have also dropped some chips as well throughout the first 80 minutes of play.

Two Unibet Open Champions on Same Table

Level 2 : 100/200, 25 ante

Daniel Chutrov won the Unibet Open in Glasgow last year and claimed a prize of £43,000, while Martin Soukup emerged victorious in Malta earlier this year after defeating a 292-entry strong field. Both are in today and in fact share the same table. Will they be able to win a second title here in Bucharest?
