Vuoksenmaa in the Lead; Xanthopoulos Thriving

Level 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

There are several players that already doubled their stacks with around one dozen participants on the rail, and one of them is Pavlos Xanthopoulos. He just faced a raise to 800 by Markus Heikkila and three-bet to 2,500 from two seats over. Heikkila called and the flop fell {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}.

Heikkila checked, Xanthopoulos bet 2,100 and that was the end of the hand. That moved Xanthopoulos up to around 57,000, but the Greek is trailing the current leader Jorma Vuoksenmaa with more than three times the starting stack.

Grafton Busts to Carvalho

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Sam Grafton
Sam Grafton

Nuno Miguel Carvalho raised to 800 and Tomas Lindberg called from one seat over before Sam Grafton made it 2,700 to go on the button. Both opponents called and the flop came {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The action checked to Grafton and his continuation bet of 1,800 was called.

After the {4-Clubs} on the turn, it was again checked to Grafton and he shoved for around 16,000. Carvalho called and Lindberg folded.

Sam Grafton: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Nuno Miguel Carvalho: Ks,5s]

The {3-Hearts} on the river changed nothing and Grafton has been eliminated.

Two Irishman on Board

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

David Lappin has been here in Bucharest for two days and apparently helps out on the live stream commentary, while Dara O'Kearney arrived late last night in time to rail the victory of Daiva Barauskaite in the Ladies Battle. Both Irishman will be taking part tomorrow, while their countrymen Cathal Shine and Kevin Killeen took their seats a few minutes ago.

Kirs Folds Tens to Murariu

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

On the three-way flop of {Q-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} the action checked to Dan Murariu and he bet 1,300. Only Kristi Kirs in the big blind called and the {8-Diamonds} on the turn went check, check. After the {10-Hearts} on the river, Kirs bet 3,000 and Murariu raised to 6,000. Kirs eventually folded {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} face-up and Murariu was kind enough to reveal the {A-Clubs}.

Poteras Takes one Down

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

On the flop of {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, Denis Ioan Poteras bet 2,500 and his sole opponent Mark Rink called from a few seats over. On the {4-Clubs} turn, both players checked and the {8-Clubs} appeared on the river. Poteras bet 7,000 and that was enough to force a fold from Rink.

Ciuciuc Doubles

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

A battle of the blinds resulted in a raising war between Ovidian Florian Ciuciuc and Roy Even. The latter was in the big blind and had the higher stack and a flip with {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Ciuciuc was at risk for 19,575 with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and stood up from his chair, ready to leave. That was until the flop came {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} to pair him up.

Both the {5-Diamonds} turn and the {3-Diamonds} river changed nothing anymore and Ciuciuc doubled.

Correction on Late Registration

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

The late registration is in fact open until the start of level seven, which will include the 60-minute dinner break after the end of level six still, and the final number for Day 1a can thus increase further. So far, there are almost 250 entries to put the event on track to eclipse the guarantee of €500,000.

Full House for Murariu

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

On the four-way flop of {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, four players all invested 500 chips each and the {10-Spades} fell on the turn. Dan Murariu bet 2,300 out of the big blind and just Alexoi Lucian called whereas the other two players folded. The {9-Spades} on the river then completed the board and Murariu bet 4,600.

Lucian gave it plenty of consideration before calling and then mucked when Murariu showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a full house.
