Mitchell Scores Big Double

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
James Mitchell
James Mitchell

Preflop, James Mitchell and Alexandros Papadopolos already invested 24,000 each and then headed to a flop of {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Mitchell bet 27,000 in the hijack and Papadopolos called on the button.

The {7-Spades} appeared on the turn and Mitchell shoved. His opponent asked for a count and then eventually called the shove for 73,400.

James Mitchell: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Alexandros Papadopolos: {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}

The {6-Clubs} on the river changed nothing and the Greek tapped the table and said "nice hand", while Mitchell doubled into a big stack.

Liimatta Lets Petcu Take One

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

"Whenever I had a big hand today and got it in ahead, I held up," Joni Liimatta acknowledged and the stack of the Finn had grown consistently. just now he defended his big blind to a raise by Elvis Petcu and check-called the {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop for 12,500. On the {3-Diamonds} turn, Liimatta checked again and Petcu's bet of 16,500 forced a fold by the Finn.

Ilies Eliminated

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Martin Wendt sent Florin Ionut Ilies to the rail to become one of the big stacks over on table one. Bart Francois was moved there recently, too, and has around 120,000 while Yossef Shmuel Shmerling and Alexandre de Zutter are the other two players with plenty of chips over there.

Alfasi Busts; O'Kearney Shoves

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Itzhak Alfasi moved all in for his last 15,600 and Catalin Moraru called with the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} from a few seats over. Alfasi was behind with {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and the flop of {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} left him in even worse shape. It was all over after the {9-Hearts} turn, making the {9-Spades} river meaningless.

One hand later, Dara O'Kearney shoved for 29,300 and claimed the blinds and antes, showing the {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}.

Van Belzen Doubles

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Jeroen van Belzen opened at the end of the previous level to 3,600 from the cutoff and Dimitrios Kalaroutis three-bet to 8,000 on the button, van Belzen called. On the {J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, van Belzen check-called 8,000 before the {3-Hearts} turn was checked through.

On the {8-Diamonds} river, van Belzen bet 13,000 with another 34,100 and Kalaroutis shoved to put his opponent at risk. After plenty of consideration, the Dutchman called with {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for jacks and eights, Kalaroutis was caught bluffing with the {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

The Greek busted soon after and was followed to the rail by Gary Clarke, Rene Dif, and Narcis Gabriel Nedelcu.

Egan Shows the Bluff

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Lee Egan
Lee Egan

"Phewwww," Lee Egan let out after the end of the hand that saw him get through with a successful bluff. Egan check-called a continuation bet on the {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop and then checked again the {A-Hearts} turn. His opponent Virgil Grecu fired another 15,000 and Egan called before instantly shoving the {K-Spades} on the river.

Grecu eventually folded and Egan cheekily turned over his {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. "He didn't have anything to call with," Egan said in table chat, referring to his opponent, and joined the bigger stacks at his table.

Boldi Busts in Cruel Fashion

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

While Daiva Barauskaite escaped in very fortunate fashion by doubling up her short stack with {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} versus {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}, the exit of Alexandru Nicolae Boldi could not have been any more painful. He was at risk with the {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and got called by Madalin Petraru with {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}.

The board ran out {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{K-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Petraru made a straight to better the set of his opponent. Thomas Ardai has also been eliminated.

A Couple of Big Stacks

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

As the field gets thinned down further, new bigger stacks emerge. Henri Vaisanen appears to be among the biggest stacks, and Quentin Lecomte is one double up away from joining the Finn.

Harkes Has Aces Cracked; Busts

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Peter Harkes
Peter Harkes

According to a colleague, and also confirmed by Dara O'Kearney who watch the action unfold from one seat over, Peter Harkes had aces cracked to join the rail earlier in the level. Harkes raidsed to 3,500 in the cutoff and David Tobi called in the big blind. On the {10-}{9-}{7-} flop, Tobi bet 5,000 and Harkes raised to 12,500 with a stack of 30,000. Tobi called and the {8-} appeared on the turn.

Tobi now checked, then called the shove of Harkes with {J-}{7-} for the straight to see the pocket aces of Harkes down the drain. The river brought no split pot, and that was it for Harkes.
