Ian Simpson Eliminated

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

We saw 2013 Irish Open champion Ian Simpson on the rail, reason enough for us to believe he had been eliminated. He was still all smiles, but confirmed our "read" that he was out.

Simpson was knocked down to just 1,300 after getting cold decked with {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} versus {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} on a 3-club board. He battled back to a playable stack, but lost all of his chips when he four-bet {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} all in against a squeeze on a table full of 3-bets. This time around his opponent had a real hand with {A-}{Q-}, and that hand held up.

"Sad face" Simpson said, though his actual face was far from looking down. "Side events, cash, drinks!" said Simpson with a big smile, "It's Malta!"

Van Meene Doubles With Trips

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

We got there on the flop as both the small blind and big blind Tim van Meene checked on {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. In the hijack, Boris Kuzmanovic, presumably the initial raiser, made a bet of 3,200. The small blind called and Van Meene pushed all in for 14,100. Kuzmanovic tanked a bit before 3-betting to 28,200. The small blind folded.

Boris Kuzmanovic: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Tim van Meene: {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

The {K-Hearts} on the turn and {3-Hearts} on the river were both blanks, and Van Meene doubled up.

"Is It My Instinct That Tells Me To Call, Or Is It My Ego?"

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante
Christian Andersen
Christian Andersen

From first position Arne Coulier, two time Belgian Poker Challenge winner, opened for 1,800. He got called by his neighbor, Christian Andersen in the hijack, and the player in the big blind.

The big blind checked on {7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Coulier continued for 3,600. His neighbor folded, Andersen called, the big blind folded.

The {J-Spades} hit the turn and Coulier checked. Andersen made a bet of 7,800 and Coulier called. Coulier checked again on the {9-Hearts} river and Andersen quickly bet 20,000 by tossing in four 5,000-chips.

"That's an interesting one," Coulier said.

"I assume you think I have an over pair and expect a call. That was pretty fast though" Coulier continued.

Andersen remained quiet, and Coulier said "Sorry guys, I might need a minute here,"

"It's a fun one, either way. A rivered set of nines makes sense, or flopped sets for that matter" Coulier continued his monologue.

"No hints? No clues? How's winter in Rozvadov?" Coulier asked.

Andersen remained silent, staring to the centre of the table without so much of a sigh.

"So tilting, if I call and lose I probably won't make the dinner break. If I call and win, I'm the hero."

"Is it my instinct that tells me to call, or is it my ego?" Coulier asked himself.

He then tossed in 20,000 to call and Andersen quickly tabled {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for the flopped set. "I guess it was my ego," Coulier ended the chatterbox.

Jansen Eliminated

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Unibet Open Riga runner up Rick Jansen was standing on the rail and, upon request, told us the details of his bust out.

He lost with aces to a set early on and was knocked down to 10,000. Things didn't go well from there, as he never made a comeback.

In his last hand he got it in with {A-}{Q-} against {7-}{7-} preflop. The {Q-}{7-}{2-} flop just about ended it already, and he was drawing dead by the time the turn was out.

De Laat Doubles

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Hijack Bas de Laat opened for 2,200 and small blind Nikita Malinovskii three-bet to 6,500. The big blind folded and De Laat tanked for a bit before raising to 13,200. Action was back on Malinovskii and he plummeted a stack of yellow 5,000-chips in the middle. De Laat announced all in, which was probably a call at this point, and Malinovskii made clear he was calling.

Nikita Malinovskii: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Bas de Laat: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{6-Spades} and De Laat doubled his 46,300 stack. Malinovskii still has about starting stack left.

De Jong Eliminated

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Dex de Jong shoved his last 7,700 in from first position. Two to his right it was Dalil Masaud raising to 15,000. Kristof Segers pushed all in over the top and when action folded back to Masaud, he tank folded.

Dex de Jong: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Kristof Segers: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{4-Clubs} and De Jong made his exit. Masaud said he had folded jacks, but the pot went to Segers.

Raemaekers Eliminated

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The seat of Joep Raemaekers was vacant and we asked his former table mate and good friend Pim de Goede what had happened.

De Goede told us that he was the one raising from the button and the player in the small blind had three-bet to 4,000. Big blind Joep Raemaekers shoved all in for 27 big blinds and De Goede was quick to fold. The small blind called with kings however, and Raemaekers needed help with {7-}{7-}.

Five blanks later it was Raemaekers who was send home. Fortunately for him, home isn't far away as he lives here on the island.
