Soukup Slips

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Martin Soukup
Martin Soukup

Unibet Open Malta 2016 winner Martin Soukup was facing a 32,000 all-in bet on a board of {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. Soukup called after much deliberation, but couldn't beat his opponent's {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Soukup was forced to show {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and had to part with some of his chips.

Soukup is seated at arguably the toughest table in the room, with two-time winner Mateusz Moolhuizen, Adrien Allain and Sylvain Loosli also at the same table.

Van Brabander Shuts Down

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Charlotte Van Brabander
Charlotte Van Brabander

Charlotte Van Brabander's table has been moved back from the feature area into the field. After an under the gun raise from the Belgian Unibet Ambassador, both blinds made the call.

The flop was {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Van Brabander continued with 4,900. Only Jerome Lhostis in the small blind made the call. The {2-Hearts} on the turn paired the board and now Van Brabander bet 5,500. Lhostis wasn't easily shed and once again came along with a call.

Both players quickly checked the {8-Spades} on the river. Lhostis showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and Van Brabander quickly mucked her hand.

Moolhuizen Trending Up

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Mateusz Moolhuizen
Mateusz Moolhuizen

Mateusz Moolhuizen raised to 3,500 from the hijack. On the button, Tamer Kamel three-bet to 10,200 and Moolhuizen called. Both players checked the {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{J-Clubs} flop. Moolhuizen fired 15,500 on the {5-Clubs} turn and Kamel called.

The river brought the {4-Hearts} and Moolhuizen seized out a bet of 27,000. Kamel called again, only to see Moolhuizen turn over {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair. The Brit couldn't beat that and slipped to just 13,000 in the process.

Moolhuizen is now up to 180,000.

Hennessy Takes Down Lhostis With Big Flip

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Nicholas Hennessy raised to 6,000 from early position. In late position, Jerome Lhostis three-bet to 16,700. When it was back on Hennessy, he four-bet shoved all in for 152,600 to put Lhostis at risk.

Lhostis, who played 125,000 (62 bb) in total, called it off to create on of the biggest pots of the day.

Nicholas Hennessy: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Jerome Lhostis: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The monster flip landed in the Brit's favor, after the {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} board failed to provide any help for Lhostis. Hennessy skyrocketed to 280,000 and will presumably end the day as one of the chipleaders.
