Foord-Brown Touches Two Million

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Francis Foord-Brown
Francis Foord-Brown

In a limped pot between Giulio Mascolo (BTN), Fabio Miranda (SB) and Francis Foord-Brown (BB), there was no action on the {9-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{6-Spades} flop.

On the {4-Diamonds} turn, Miranda checked, Foord-Brown bet 45,000, Mascolo called, Miranda check-raised to 140,000, Foord-Brown called and Mascolo called as well.

The river was the {3-Clubs} and Miranda bet 225,000. Foord-Brown quickly called and Mascolo folded.

Miranda showed {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of sixes and Foord-Brown tabled the winner with {9-Spades}{6-Clubs} for two pair.

Foord-Brown was on 2,000,000 after the hand but in the next and final hand of the level, the Brit dropped 350,000 to Anton Kuznetsov. Foord-Brown paid off three barrels on {Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{6-Clubs}, but couldn't beat the Russian's {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

Arno Simon Eliminated in 17th Place (£4,370)

Level 21 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Anton Kuznetsov opened to 55,000 from the cutoff. Arno Simon shoved 249,000 all in on the button and Kuznetsov called to put the last Frenchman at risk.

Arno Simon: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Anton Kuznetsov: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The {J-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop gave both players a flush draw, but Kuznetsov's one was higher. Simon found one of his outs on the {K-Diamonds} turn, but the {6-Hearts} on the river gave Kuznetsov the nut flush. Simon headed to the payout desk to collect £4,370 for his 17th place.

The chipleader at the end of Day 1a, Giulio Mascolo, saw his attempt at Unibet Open glory come to an end in 16th place. Mascolo was down to 180,000 but picked up {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} on the button and quickly went all in.

Francis Foord-Brown had {J-Clubs}{8-Hearts} in the big blind and called the few extra blinds off. The board came down {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, knocking Mascolo out with Foord-Brown's rivered two pair.

Francis Foord-Brown opened to 50,000 from middle position. Dejan Govedic three-bet to 140,000 from the hijack. In the cutoff, Ioana Silvana went in the tank and eventually shoved for 231,000. Foord-Brown folded and Govedic instantly called.

Ioana Silvana: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Dejan Govedic: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}

The graduated pharmacist, who received a €2,000 Challenge Package for this tournament by grinding 1,200,000 points on Unibet, was ahead after the {2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop. The {K-Clubs} on the turn flipped the tables on the last woman standing, and the {K-Diamonds} on the river was just to rub salt in the wounds.

Silvana, who's previous biggest cash was around €1,000, saw her incredible freeroll journey come to an end in 15th place, taking home €4,900 to Romania.
