Down to 54 Players

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Another trio of players ran out of chips to reduce the field to the last 54 and Mariusz Niski avoided the elimination just shy of the money after doubling through Nicolae Suciu.

Suciu had limped the button and Niski jammed for 53,000 in the small blind, Suciu called and tabled {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Niski had the far superior pocket pair in {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and had little to fear on the {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} board.

The same table also feature Traian Bostan, who more than doubled as of lately, and Dara O'Kearney is right in his comfort zone of ten big blinds one table over.

Shahar Doubles Through Ponomarev

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Mihai Niste, Ionel Tanase and Jani Tuomaala have been eliminated, Ran Shahar avoided that fate and doubled through Nikolay Ponomarev.

Gilles Huet had opened to 9,000 and Shahar called in the cutoff, Ponomarev then raised to 33,000 on the button and was called only by Shahar. On the {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, Shahar check-shoved for 118,000 into a bet of 23,000 by Ponomarev, who made the call.

Ran Shahar: {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Nikolay Ponomarev: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The {3-Hearts} turn and the {8-Hearts} river were blanks and Ponomarev had to forfeit a big portion of his stack.

Hoogendijk Out Before the Money

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Anko Hoogendijk
Anko Hoogendijk

A raise to 9,000 was called by Gilles Huet and Anko Hoogendijk then shoved for 59,000 from one seat over. The initial raiser folded and Huet stared at his table neighbor for some time before announcing the call.

Anko Hoogendijk: {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Gilles Huet: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Hoogendijk was somewhat surprised about the reluctant call and found no help on the {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} board to bow out before the money.

Ropert Jams Into Dobrescu

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The money bubble is getting closer with many shorter stacks around, while the middling stacks are looking for an edge to increase their stacks. This includes Andrei Dobrescu and Corentin Ropert, who just clashed and created a pot of 100,000 to the {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} river. Ropert in the small blind jammed for 93,000 and Dobrescu was having a hard time, he sighed almost instantly.

The clock was called on Dobrescu and one minute passed without a call, Ropert claimed the pot without showdown.

Petrea Takes From Shahar

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

On a flop of {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, Dan Petrea led for 11,000 and Ran Shahar called to see the {6-Diamonds} on the turn. Petrea now checked and called a bet of 18,000 by Shahar.

The {5-Spades} on the river was checked through and Petrea first to act, he flashed {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} for kings and sevens. Shahar shook his head and sent his cards into the muck.

Moments later, Jenny Israel walked out of the tournament area as her short stack ride as of lately had come to an end.

Break and Chip Race

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Only 67 players remain after six levels on Day 2 and the money bubble will be looming soon, as just 47 spots will get paid. Ionut Voinea was ousted just before the 20-minute break and already jumped into the High Roller, Sergiu Covrig also busted. In the meanwhile, the T-500 chips are raced off in the Main Event and at least two further levels will be played.
