Winther Caught Bluffing

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

In the first hand back from the dinner break on the outer table, Oerjahn Winther defended his big blind against the button raise of Marius Gicovanu and check-called a bet of 40,000 on the {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop. The {5-Hearts} turn went check, check, and Winther bet the {6-Hearts} river for 50,000.

Gicovanu needed some time to consider but made the call, and he was good. Winther only had {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, which Gicovanu had beat with {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}.

Grecu Cements Lead

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

The action on the outer table has slowed down and the only bigger pot as of lately left Cristian Grecu with the head shaking, even though he claimed the chips. What had happened? Grecu had flopped top set with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} in the big blind but his opponent checked behind the river.

Grecu climbed up to around 1.5 million in chips and Razvan Sabau is the only other chip millionaire on the outer table.

Palievici Gets Soukup to Fold the Best Hand

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Martin Soukup raised to 35,000 on the button with the {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Alexandru Palievici defended {3-Clubs}{3-Spades} in the big blind. They checked the {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop and the {10-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. Palievici bet 38,000 and Soukup called.

The {A-Spades} on the river slowed down the action and Palievici checked, Soukup bet 75,000. Palievici went for the check-raise to 225,000, more than half of his remaining stack, and Soukup folded.

Gicovanu Doubles Through Ropert

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Marius Gicovanu
Marius Gicovanu

On the outer table, Marius Gicovanu was all in for 242,000 in the cutoff and he was called by Corentin Ropert on the button.

Marius Gicovanu: {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Corentin Ropert: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The {A-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} flop and the 6d turn left Gicovanu with just three outs and he indeed spiked the {J-Diamonds} river to double.
