Kettunen Eliminated by Spampinato in Large Pot

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Julius Kettunen
Julius Kettunen

A rather innocent looking battle of the blinds commenced with a raise to 3,000 by Giulio Spampinato and Julius Kettunen called to see a flop of {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{8-Hearts} on which both players checked.

Spampinato bet the {10-Spades} turn for 2,300 and Kettunen raised to 8,000 in order to pick up a call by the Italian. On the {5-Clubs} river, Spampinato checked and Kettunen now bet 45,000 with fewer than that behind.

Spampinato moved all-in for 91,200 and Kettunen grabbed a single T-1,000 chip, which he then slowly moved between all of his fingers. Eventually, the Finn called and Spampinato tabled the {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for eights full of kings, while Kettunen bowed out with {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for trips kings.

The Rich Get Richer Without Showdown

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

In a three-bet pot with some 15,000 in the middle, Mats Karlsson checked over to Jussi Heikela on the button with the flop showing {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. The Finn bet 10,000 and Karlsson studied the stack size of his opponent carefully.

"That's how much more?" he inquired and once Heikela mentioned another 60k ehind, Karlsson min-raised to 20,000. Only a few seconds later, Heikela shook his head and folded.

Over on table eight, Jon Persent bet the {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop for 8,000 and David Szabo called in the hijack. The {q-Hearts} turn was checked and Persent bet the {6-Clubs} river for 12,000. Szabo let go and the next big stack added chips. Shortly thereafter, the table broke after the elimination of Jannik Bengtsen.

Louis Le Boisselier raised to 2,000 from under the gun and Tomasz Brzezinski three-bet to 5,200 from one seat over. Olli Rummukainen then four-bet to 15,000 on the button, which forced out the initial raiser.

Brzezinski had other plans and five-bet jammed for 34,800, picking up a swift call by Rummukainen.

Tomasz Brzezinski: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Olli Rummukainen: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The superior pocket pair held on the {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{a-Spades}{6-Hearts} board and Rummukainen was left with a short stack.

"Weird Finnish Dynamics" Result in Split Pot

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The action folded to Dan Tolppanen in the small blind and he raised it up to 2,500. Esa Valliaro then three-bet to 10,000 only for Tolppanen to move all-in with the covering stack.

Valliaro suspected a flip and sigh-called all-in for some 40 big blinds.

Esa Valliaro: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Dan Tolppanen: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The split pot was guaranteed by the turn on the {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} board. "I folded eight deuce," table big stack Jon Persent joked while Tolppanen replied "we have weird Finnish dynamics" before telling Valliaro he would have probably not called all-in with the ace-ten.

Kozub Scores a Knockout

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Tomasz Kozub
Tomasz Kozub

The cards were already turned over when Ralph Chestersson was all-in and at risk against Tomasz Kozub.

Ralph Chestersson: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Tomasz Kozub: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The dominated pair also had both suits covered and there was no miracle escape for the Swede on the {j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{k-Hearts} runout.

"Thanks guys," Chestersson said on his way out and then talked through some hands with Kozub shortly thereafter.

Nachtigall Escapes From Elimination for Now

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Down to a severe short stack, Matthias Nachtigall was all-in with the {q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. He was somewhat surprised to get called by Mats Karlsson with the {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and remained ahead throughout the {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{j-Hearts} board.

Karlsson remains near the top of the leaderboard in close contention with two other players.

De Almeida Done by Juutilainen

Level 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Pierre De Almeida got the remainder of his shorter stack into the middle with the {a-}{7-} and he was dominated by Henri Juutilainen, who tabled the {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Both players paired their kicker on the {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop but nothing changed on the {j-Clubs} turn and {2-Hearts} river.
