Higor Seibel Leads Final 43 Players in 2026 Victorian Poker Champs Main Event

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Higor Seibel

The crown jewel of the 2026 Victorian Poker Championship is one step closer to crowning a winner at Crown Melbourne and two tournament days remain to play down to a winner in the flagship AUD 2,500 Victorian Poker Champs Main Event. Out of a field of 715 entries, only 43 players remain and they have all locked up a portion of the AUD 1,573,000 prize pool already.

Leading the way is a well-known name from the Australian poker community even though he originally hails from Brazil. Higor Seibel bagged up nearly 100 big blinds for Day 3 and claimed 2,250,000 to his name to narrowly beat Bobby Zhang (2,232,000) for the top spot with Jyrki Hilakari (1,933,000) taking the final spot on the overnight podium. Among the big stacks is also Australian PLO specialist Hun Wei "Andy" Lee with 1,449,000.

When it comes to poker players from Australia, perhaps none is better known Down Under than the 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem who had a very fruitful day at the tables and bagged up a healthy 964,000 in chips. He will be joined on Day 3 by his son Anthony Hachem, who claimed an even larger tally of 1,131,000.

Other notables with decent stacks include Dylan Foster (1,273,000), Jeison Berdugo (1,100,000), Mario Doria (792,000), the 2017 Aussie Millions champion Shurane Vijayaram (691,000), and Ben Richardson (438,000). Berdugo was responsible for bursting the money bubble when his ace-ten flopped two pair and Wei Han turned an inferior two pair with the nut flush draw to brick the river, ensuring a min-cash of AUD 4,500 to all remaining 89 players still in contention by then.

Notables to bow out before the money without anything to show for included Sam Higgs, Amin Riyazati, Sean Ragozzini, Luke Martinelli, Celina Lin and Randy Lew, Billy "The Croco" Argyros, and Dennis Huntly to name all but a few notables.

The rise of Zhang on the leaderboard certainly received a major boost when he won a massive three-way all-in to knock out Jiapeng Yang and Jai Painter. The latter had limped by accident and flopped a set in multi-way action only for Zhang in the small blind show the goods with the flopped nut straight.

On the same table, Paris Sitzoukis was flipped to the rail before the money by Vajra Castles whereas Chris Kokkinos saw a roller coaster runout with nines end when Hachem's pocket tens turned the superior full house.

Just before the money bubble, Foster and Idris Hassan played the biggest pot of the tournament until then in which Foster's jacks flopped a set to crack pocket aces. Hassan went from one of the chip leaders to fumes and scraped into the money. Dean Blatt was not as fortunate and ran with queens into aces to miss a cash price by two spots thereafter.

Once the bubble had burst, the action certainly didn't slow down. Hilakari jammed with ace-queen suited and William Lim was poised for a double with ace-king only to get punished by the broadway straight on the flop. Adrian Di Girolamo saw his pocket aces cracked by the pocket queens of Michael Tomeny when four spades appeared on the board.

Josh Abady
Josh Abady

American expat and local poker room co-owner Joshua Abady staged a major comeback that was sparked by him cracking pocket kings, but Lady Luck had the last laugh when she returned the beat to Abady in the last level of the night. In the last half an hour, the frantic action reduced the field to the final five tables with the big stacks getting richer.

All remaining 43 players have locked up a cash price of AUD 6,000 and they will aim to bag up chips one more time to reach the live-streamed final table. Day 3 is set to continue at 12.30 p.m. local time with level 21, which features blinds of 12,000-24,000 and a big blind ante of 24,000. The levels will remain 60 minutes long and it is expected to wrap up once the final table has been reached.

Down to the Final Five Tables

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Bobby Zhang
Bobby Zhang

Bobby Zhang flopped a set of tens to send Stephen Cole to the rail and the next eliminations kept on coming.

Manoj Thapa bet the 7♣4♣3♥2♠8♣ river for almost half of his stack and Jyrki Hilakari then moved all-in. Thapa tank-called with the A♠A♥ and was shown the A♣10♣ for the rivered ace-high flush to lave Thapa flabbergasted.

George Giannulidis and Jarred Graham were then knocked out in the same hand by Perry Jeffs to bring the field down to the last 44 players. According to Jeffs, Giannulidis had jammed pocket fives and Graham had ace-queen suited.

Jeffs' J♣J♦ was ahead but fell behind to Graham on the Q♦10♦9♣ flop. The 8♥ turn gave Jeffs the straight and the 10♣ river secured the double elimination.

Naz Sibaei raised to 40,000 and then called a three-bet to 130,000 by Joshua Abady as they he3aded to the Q♥4♠2♣ flop. Abady's continuation bet was raised and he jammed, Sibaei instantly called.

Naz Sibaei: 4♥4♦ All in
Joshua Abady: K♠K♦

The 6♥ turn and 9♦ river changed nothing and Sibaei doubled for massive 830,000 to leave Abady on around six blinds.

Those went in soon after against Bobby Zhang as follows.

Joshua Abady: A♠Q♥ All in
Bobby Zhang: A♣K♥

The kicker played on the J♦10♦5♣6♣2♠ runout to send Abady to the payout desk next.

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Adrian Di Girolamo
Adrian Di Girolamo

The stack of Michael Tomeny was counted while his cards and the board were showing, and Adrian Di Girolamo on the other side of the table was shell-shock. Tomeny's Q♠Q♥ had hit a four card flush on the K♠7♣4♠6♠3♠ runout and that cracked the aces of Di Girolamo as confirmed by other players at the table.

"Sorry, that's twice in the tournament now," Tomeny said when his 682,000 was confirmed to have covered.

On his way out, Di Girolamo replied "you got my number".

Abady and Pearce on a Spin Up

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Josh Abady
Josh Abady

During the break, Thomas Pearce mentioned that he was down to only two big blinds at 3,000-6,000/6,000 and then scored a very fortunate double-up when his opponent flopped a full house. He then picked up aces twice for a full double and now sits on a huge stack.

Another spin up story was Joshua Abady who had 12 blinds near the bubble and first doubled to then nearly triple up. He got it in for 27 big blinds against Jackson Oldham and Domenico Zappia with the latter covering both.

Jackson Oldham: A♥K♦ All in
Joshua Abady: J♦J♣ All in
Domenico Zappia: K♥K♠

The J♥6♦4♥3♦2♣ runout gave Abady a set of jacks for the near triple up, Oldham was gone and Zappia took a big hit.

Hilakari Flops Broadway to Bad Beat Lim

Level 19 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
William Lim
William Lim

Following a button raise to 32,000, William Lim called in the small blind. Jyrki Hilakari then jammed for more than half a million in chips and the action folded back to Lim. He grabbed towards his stack and started pushing it forward before fully committing to the call.

William Lim: A♠K♣ All in
Jyrki Hilakari: A♦Q♦

The K♦J♥10♠ flop gave Hilakari broadway and the J♦ turn added a royal flush draw, while Lim had some more outs to stay alive. However, the river was the blank 8♥ and both stacks were counted. Lim had 392,000 and was covered to head to the payout desk.

Darryl Gassali
Darryl Gassali

Katy Lo opened to 32,000 in early position, and Nickolas Oiberman three-bet to 95,000 in the cutoff. Darryl Gassali moved all in from the small blind for his last 50,000, and Nektarios Dimitrakis called Oiberman's three-bet. Lo got out of the way, and the 9♣7♥J♥ flop was fanned out.

Dimitrakis announced all in, and Oiberman let his hand go.

Darryl Gassali: Q♦5♦ All in
Nektarios Dimitrakis: J♠J♦

Dimitrakis revealed his flopped set of jacks, with the K♥ turn and 8♠ river completing the board and confirming Gassli's exit.

Han Eliminated on the Bubble by Berdugo

Level 19 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Wei Han, Bubble
Wei Han, Bubble

There were two hands going the distance at the same time but only one of them brought an all-in and call. With the turn showing A♠10♦7♦5♣, Wei Han check-called all-in for 57,000 against the shove by Jeison Berdugo. Once all other tables were finished, they ran the showdown as follows.

Wei Han: A♦5♦ All in
Jeison Berdugo: A♣10♠

Han had flopped top pair with the nut flush draw and turned two pair, yet he was behind against Berdugo's top two pair. No diamond or five came on the blank 6♠ river and that let the bubble burst in the first attempt.

Joe Hachem raised and then got out of the way when Mario Doria and Dean Blatt got their chips into the middle, exposing pocket tens that were dominated by both his opponents.

Dean Blatt: Q♠Q♦ All in
Mario Doria: A♥A♣

The A♦10♥9♥ flop left Blatt on very thin ice and it was all over on the 6♠ turn, the 5♦ river was a formality. There are now 90 players remaining and 89 will be in the money, once all tables finish their action they will continue hand-for-hand with 16 seconds left in the current level.
