Outside the Casino de Marrakech the temperature hit an astounding 42 degrees Celsius, but the action was heating up inside the tournament area just as well on Day 2 of the 2017 Winamax SISMIX Main Event.

256 players started the day, and from the very beginning, the play was fast and furious. Players busted left and right, and after just three levels of play, the field was almost halved, and the bubble play had commenced. Even during hand-for-hand play, it was hard to keep up with the action, as short stacks put their tournament lives on the line. Japan's Kazuma Fujiyama managed to find a crucial double on the stone cold bubble, as did Karim Benamrouche. That left the Spanish player with the pseudonym 'Ignapoker' with the unhappy privilege of being the bubble boy, as his flopped second pair was no good against a rivered set of eights from Frenchman Mounim Kaddouri.

The pace did by no means slow down after the bubble burst, and two hours later another 52 players had been escorted to the cashier because of a profound lack of chips. Many Winamax Pros and VIPs were among the last 80 players in the tournament, but when Davidi Kitai busted by running fours into the nines of Paul Guichard, it started quite the avalanche of profiles busting. Bruno 'Kool Shen' Lopes hit the rail shortly after, Gaelle Baumann followed when her Ace-Eight were no match for Jerome Barre's Ace-King, and less than an hour before the end of the day, Alexandre 'Alexonmoon' Luneau ran out of chips after having nursed a short stack for a while.

The very last hand of the day saw the biggest pot of the tournament go the way of Day 1c chip leader [Removed:445]. Haho called a reraise preflop with a pair of deuces and had no seconds thoughts about putting his entire stack in the middle after having flopped quads. Sofiene Belaid were holding a mere Ace-Jack high and was drawing dead before the turn in the pot of nearly 7,000,000 chips. The elimination of Belaid in 19th meant that play was halted for the day, and thus Haho bagged up the overnight chip lead by a margin of more than two million to nearest contender, Kazuma Fujiyama (5,000,000)

Rounding out the top-5 before are Hugo Larachiche (4,450,000), Hector Gonzales (3,700,000) and the biggest profile remaining in the tournament, former EPT Deauville runner-up Paul Guichard (3,500,000).

The 18 remaining contenders for the title will play down to a winner tomorrow. Because of daylight saving time going into effect in Morocco tonight, play will resume in exactly 12 hours from now; at 1 pm local time. When it does, there will be 37 minutes and 51 seconds left of level 25 with blinds of 30,000/60,000 and a running ante of 10,000. The remaining players are all guaranteed 44,000 MAD (€4,042) for their time in Marrakech, but with a cool one million Moroccan Dhiram on top, everybody will be having high hopes coming into Day 3 of the tournament.

Haho Wins Massive Pot with Quads to Bag Up 7,4 Million

Day 2 of the 2017 Winamax SISMIX Main Event ended just like it started: Fast and furious. In the last pot of the night [Removed:445] called a raise preflop, Sofiene Belaid squeezed to 425,000, and only Haho made the call.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, and with a million chips already in the pot, Belaid continued for 375,000. Haho made it 800,000 total, and with the action back on Belaid, he announced all-in for 3,200,000. Haho instantly called and flipped over {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and Belaid with {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} was drawing entirely dead even before the turn.

Haho didn't even have time to enjoy his newly found wealth, as his stack of 7,4 million chips went directly into the overnight bags. Talk about ending on a high note.

Belaid Busts In 7 Million Chips Pot: Play Is Done for the Night

Level 24 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

The players were supposed to play another 38 minutes, but just now Sofiene Belaid busted in 19th in the biggest pot of the night, and with just three tables remaining, tournament director Thomas Gimie opted for a thank you and goodnight with 37 minutes and 51 seconds left on the tournament clock.

The 7 million chip pot will follow shortly and after that a full list of chip counts, as well as an end-of-day recap. Stay tuned.

Dupuy Is Done

Level 24 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Guillaume Dupuy was down to his last 330,000 after just having lost a big one to Spanish player Daniel in the next seat over. Dupuy's last chips went in with {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, but they were no good against the {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} of Sylvain Meriguet, and with the board running out {3-Clubs}{10-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, Dupuy was out in 21st.

Soutovang Dives Head First Into Hector's Aces

Level 24 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

The action folded around to Bruno Soutavong in the small blind, and he moved all-in for 700,000. Spanish player Hector in the big blind instantly called and turned over {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, and Soutavong's {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} needed quite a bit of help to stay in it.

The {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs} was as good as Soutavong could have hoped for, but neither the {9-Hearts} nor the {7-Clubs} river completed the straight, and Soutavong hit the rail in 23rd.

Simultaneous Ludovic Zocchetti was sent packing on an adjacent table, and that leaves 21 players still in the tournament.

Fool Me Once ....

Level 24 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Sliman Taghzouit made it 125,000 to go from the button and Alexandre Luneau three-bet out of the small blind to 350,000. Taghzouit called but surrendered on the {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop to a bet of 200,000.

Taghzouit was not one to give up and made it 125,000 the very next hand. This time Luneau only called and called another 225,000 on the {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop. The {J-Hearts} turn prompted a bet of 375,000 from Taghzouit, and yet again Luneau made the call.

Taghzouit emptied the clip on the {6-Spades} river, and Luneau thought only briefly about calling the 1,250,000 before his cards found the way into the muck.
