More Records on the Horizon Ahead of Winamax SISMIX Day 1c

Winamax SISMIX 2018
Winamax SISMIX 2018

The magic number, for organisers at least, is 345. That's the number they need to beat the record Winamax SISMIX field of 1,078 entrants which was set last year. However, with last year's Day 1c garnering 492 entries, and this year's numbers up by roughly 25%, the record field looks set to be smashed.

Anyone who hasn't booked their space in Day 2 will be action, along with a number of Winamax Team Pros that we haven't seen in action yet. Davidi Kitai, who finished third in the Winamax SISMIX High Roller, and Mustapha Kanit will take to the felt, along with a handful of other Team Pros.

They will all receive 50,000 in chips and play 14 40-minute levels.

Here is the structure for Day 1c:

2014 Winamax SISMIX winner Davidi Kitai and 2015 winner Jerome Sgorrano have joined the field at the break. Kitai finished third in the 2018 Winamax SISMIX High Roller and after taking a day off to enjoy Marrakech, he has joined the Main Event.

Also in the field is Mathieu Selides. Selides knows how to win here in Marrakech, having taken down the 2016 WSOPC Main Event for 1,105,000 MAD ($111,604).

One of the latest players to join the ranks of Winamax Team Pro, Adrian Mateos has joined the Winamax SISMIX Main Event. The youngest ever player to win three bracelets, as well as the first Spanish EPT champion, Mateos has over $14m in lifetime earnings.

Despite the SISMIX being a smaller event to those you'd usually find him playing, you'd expect he'll want to do well in front of his sponsors, and beat his fellow Team pros!

Day 1c Field Over 500

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Winamax SISMIX 2018
Winamax SISMIX 2018

The total number of entrants for Day 1c of the Winamax SISMIX Main Event has burst through the 500 mark, with 502 players having registered. 294 of them remain, but with late registration open for another level and a half, that number looks set to grow.

It puts the total in this already record-breaking Winamax SISMIX Mian Event to 1,236, easily surpassing the 1,078 from last year's event.

Calamusa Sends Zizi to the Rail; Moves into Chip Lead

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Pierre Calamusa
Pierre Calamusa

Pierre Calamusa looked to be in a good position to send Abdou Zizi to the rail with the Winamax Team Pro holding {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} against Zizi's {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

There was an ace on the flop, but a king also as the full board came {k-Spades}{a-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} meaning Calamusa's set beat the top pair of Zizi. Calamusa already had close to 170,000, and with this elimination he soared up the counts to around 270,000.

Checking in on the Winamax Team Pros

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Mustapha Kanit opened to 4,500 and the big blind called. The big blind check-called a bet of 4,000 on the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop but check-folded to a bet of 12,000 from the Italian, known as "lasagnammmm" online, on the {2-Clubs} turn.

Meanwhile Bruno Lopes was doubling up an opponent. The 2015 winner held {3-Spades}{10-Spades} on a {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} runout, but his opponent had scored a small but meaningful double with {a-Hearts}{2-Spades} for trip twos. 'Kool Shen' still sits on 115,000.

Rejoining the field is Guillaume Diaz. The winner of the EPT Monte Carlo National last month, he has a fresh stack of 50,000 to play with with half an hour left in the level.
