Day 1bc Started
The sun has finally come out in Seville. The Spanish province has spent the last few days battered by rain and wind, even fearing the possible overflow of the Guadalquivir River, which runs through the city.
Today, however, clear skies have returned to the Andalusian capital and to Casino Admiral Sevilla, which is fully set to welcome players for Day 1b of the Main Event starting at 4 p.m. local time.
Last night, a total of 61 entries passed through the tables, with just 19 players securing their spot for Day 2. Leading the way is Mexico's Mario Lozada, who bagged an impressive 295,000 chips, good for 148 big blinds heading into Saturday. No Spanish players appear in the top three, as second place belongs to American William Bortz with 283,000, while Mikoto Eihata, holding the same stack, traveled in from Japan.

Play resumes today at 4 p.m., with all players starting with 50,000 chips. Levels will restart from the beginning at 100/100 with a 100 big blind ante, increasing every 45 minutes. The day will conclude at the end of Level 11.
Also scheduled for today is the start of the Day 1c Low Cost flight at 8 p.m. This flight features a reduced €275 buy-in, but players will begin with half the starting stack, 25,000 chips, and levels will increase every 20 minutes, making it a turbo format.
Tomorrow, Casino Admiral Sevilla will host Day 1d, which is expected to be the largest flight of the event. Players who fail to advance today or tomorrow will still have one final chance in the Day 1e turbo, which begins Saturday at 11 a.m. All survivors from the starting flights will return for Day 2 on Saturday at 5 p.m.

A player in middle position fired 3,000 on the river with the board showing 9♣5♥J♥8♣2♣, leaving Guillem Nuez with a decision to make. Nuez, who recently won the €200 Opening Event here at CNP Winamax Sevilla, weighed the spot carefully while shuffling a handful of yellow chips.
After a moment, he pushed forward three of them to call. His opponent tapped the table twice and revealed A♥10♣, while Nuez turned over 6♣6♥ for fourth pair, which proved enough to take down the pot.

In the 938th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Mike Holtz, and Ben Ludlow are joined by Connor Richards at Level 9 Studio in Las Vegas to talk about poker pro Jared Bleznick revealing that he's buried by a bad investment into a massive amount of Labubu!
Connor then shares details on covering the federal trial of Tom Goldstein in person in Maryland and what it was like to win the recent Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) event. Speaking of federal, Chad sat down with the Nevada congresswoman, Rep. Dina Titus, to discuss her efforts to pass the FAIR BET Act, which would restore gambling deductions from 90% back to 100%.
From there, it's a talk about the largest overlay in online poker history and recent tournament winners presented by WPT Global, including Alex Foxen, Nick Schulman, and Chino Rheem.
Find out all about those stories and more in this week's episode of the PokerNews Podcast! Oh, and be sure to check out the audio version of the PokerNews Podcast that is available on all major podcasting platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and SoundCloud.
In a three-bet pot, Bienvenido Sánchez fired 25,000 on the river after calling his opponent's two previous bets from the big blind.
The board read 7♦9♦2♦6♠2♠ and the big blind, who had checked the action over, was left with a decision. After some consideration, he tossed in five blue chips to call.
Sánchez tabled 9♥9♣ for trip nines and said, "You're dead", while his opponent revealed A♠A♥, fully aware he was in trouble.

Four players were involved in a previously three-bet pot, and the small blind led out for 5,100 on a flop 9♠A♥J♠. All three opponents called, including José Manuel Monsonis in the big blind.
The 8♣ turn saw the small blind fire again for 6,200, which was more than Monsonis had behind. The Spaniard called off his remaining chips, and the other two players came along as well.
The 3♣ river checked through among the three remaining players, bringing about a showdown.
José Manuel Monsonis: Q♥10♣
Small Blind: A♠9♦
Under the Gun: A♣J♣
Cutoff: J♥9♥
Having made a straight on the turn, Monsonis scooped the pot, which brought him back close to his starting stack and kept him in contention.
