Osborne Turns a Set

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Phil Osborne raised to 24,000 from middle position and was called by the big blind. The flop came {a-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and the big blind check-called a bet of 25,000 from Osborne.

The {q-Clubs} landed on the turn and the big blind checked again. Osborne fired another 50,000 and his opponent stuck around to see the {10-Hearts} on the river. Both players knuckled the table and Osborne flipped over {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for a set of queens. His opponent sent his cards to the muck and Osborne moved over 1,000,000 chips.

Freedman Survives

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Wendy Freedman got her last 34,000 in and got action from Johnny Deas, who made it 70,000. Mike Rogers called and Freedman wound up hitting a six on the river with {a-}{6-} to win against {a-}{q-} and triple up.

Osborne Eliminates Keith Copp

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Phil Osborne bet 35,000 from the big blind on {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades} and then quickly called the all-in shove of Keith Copp, who had about 150,000. Osborne had {6-}{5-} for a flopped straight and Copp was nearly dead with {k-Spades}{9-Spades}. The {a-Diamonds} ended things on the turn, rendering a {j-Spades} river meaningless.

Banghart Wins a Monster from Tran

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Men Nguyen limped in from the cutoff and Jeff Banghart raised to 45,000 on the button. Hien Tran re-raised to 160,000 in the big blind and Nguyen thought for a few moments before laying down his hand. Banghart quickly called making a pot of nearly 400,000 already.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Tran slid in a bet of 250,000. Banghart looked across the table and then signaled with his hand that he was all in. Tran mulled it over for a minute before tossing his cards to the muck. Banghart flashed the {7-Diamonds} before dragging in a healthy pot.

Zero 'Em Out

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Eskandar and Lewis Double Through Elpayaa

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The action folded to Joe Elpayaa on the button who raised to 30,000. Patrick Eskandar shipped all in for 140,000 in the small blind and Elpayaa quickly called. Elpayaa tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and Eskandar held two live cards with {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

The board ran out {j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and Eskandar doubled up with two pair.

In the next hand, Austin Lewis opened to 30,000 and Elpayaa three-bet to 100,000. The action was back on Lewis who instantly shoved all in for 250,000. Elpayaa asked for a rough count and then made the call.

Lewis was in a dominating position with {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} against the {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} of Elpayaa. Both players flopped a pair on the {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop but Lewis remained in the lead. The {4-Spades} on the turn and the {5-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing as Lewis also doubled through Elpayaa.

Hirons Eliminates Philachack

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Andy Philachack got his last 225,000 in on a board of {2-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Spades} holding {6-Spades}{6-}, needing help against the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} of Larry Hirons. The turn was a {j-Clubs} and the river another brick, so "Dr. Andy" headed for payouts.

"Good game, doc," someone said.

Alex Greenblatt
