Berry Forces a Fold

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Will Berry in Day 1b action
Will Berry in Day 1b action

Will Berry raised to 4,000 from early position, and only the big blind made the call.

Both players checked the {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop, and the big blind bet 5,000 on the {j-Hearts} turn. Berry called.

The big blind checked the {9-Clubs} river to Berry, who bet 10,500. The big blind spent a few minutes in the tank before tossing the {a-Hearts} up on the felt, folding.

Smith Finds Another Double

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The dealer was in the process of counting out Chad Smith's remaining stack of 28,300 with his winning hand of {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} tabled on a board of {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}. The second-best hand of {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} was still tabled as well, showing that Smith had flopped a set and ultimately doubled up with a full house to an opponent's pocket aces.

With the pot, Smith now finds himself north of three starting stacks as the tournament moves into its middle stages.

More Chip Counts After Dinner

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Smith Doubles Through Sims

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Charles Sims opened from early position and was three-bet all in by Chad Smith, who was in the cutoff. Sims called.

Chad Smith: {6-Spades}{5-Spades}
Charles Sims: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Sims had Smith dominated before the dealer brought a flop of {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}.

"Well, that's not good!" said Sims, who was in the three-seat with a birds-eye view of the flop as it was fanned out. The turn and {9-Diamonds} and river {3-Clubs} were unable to bring the chop outs he needed and Smith earned the double. He pushed his stack forward and the dealer counted it out to 15,200, which Sims paid off.

Meanwhile, Barb Visher was recently eliminated from the tournament. Bobby Sanoubane was a recently-seated alternate, having been the last player to qualify from a satellite, and was in the seat formerly occupied by Visher. Sanoubane said she got her stack all in preflop with {k-}{k-} versus another player's {a-}{k-} and was unable to hold, sending her home shortly after the dinner break and the closing of registration.

Rodriguez Cracks Aces for the Knockout

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Eluterio Rodriguez on Day 1b
Eluterio Rodriguez on Day 1b

A player shoved all in from the small blind for about 30,000 and Eluterio Rodriguez called in the big blind, covering the player just slightly.

Eluterio Rodriguez: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Small Blind: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

"Whoa!" said Rodriguez, seeing how far behind he was with his hand. The flop came {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Spades} and Rodriguez found himself in a better situation. He said as the dealer brought the turn {2-Clubs} that things would be good as long as he got one more spade.

The river {8-Spades} gave him exactly what he needed and he earned the pot and the knockout He was recently seen stacking even more chips and now looks to have around 108,000 in front of him.
