Alyssa MacDonald: Shove, Sip, Double

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Alyssa MacDonald raised to 1,000 from middle position and got a call from Jeff Cormier in late position. Lucas Drolet was in the hijack and raised to 2,400. MacDonald and Cormier both called.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{6-Spades} and all three players checked to the {3-Clubs} on the turn. Action was on MacDonald and she paused for a moment before shoving her stack of 9,750 in the middle. Cormier went into the tank, staring back at MacDonald several times. Eventually, she calmly took a sip of her beer and waited for Cormier to act. After about a minute, he tossed out some chips to call. Drolet mucked.

MacDonald tabled {3-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a set of threes, and Cormier was left drawing dead with {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The river was the {10-Hearts} for the extra needle, and MacDonald doubled through.

Kontaratos Can't Continue

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Frederic Cossette limped in from middle position and Bill Kontaratos moved all-in for 2,450 from late position. Christine Bryant called from the small blind, as did Cossette.

The flop came {j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Bryant checked. Cossette bet 1,500 and Bryant called. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and Bryant checked again. Cossette bet 5,500 this time and Bryant folded.

Kontaratos said, "I guess I have to hit my ace" as he tabled {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Cossette tabled {j-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for a full house. The river was the {4-Spades} and Kontaratos couldn't catch up, sending him to the rail.

Setna Finds a Lucky River

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

On a board reading {k-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, with about 5,000 in the pot, Peter Chien checked from the small blind. Jimmy Setna was in the big blind and bet 1,700 and Chien called.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and Chien checked again. Setna bet 3,100 this time and Chien called again. The river was the {a-Clubs} and Chien checked for a third time. Setna counted his stack out and eventually checked back. Chien tabled {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} but it was no good against Setna's {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

Cormier Doesn't Believe

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Jeffrey Cormier
Jeffrey Cormier

Adam Hussen raised to 500 from middle position and Jeff Cormier quickly three-bet to 1,200 from the hijack. Hussen called.

The flop came {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Hussen immediately led out for 1,700. Cormier gave him a puzzled look but still called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and both players checked to the {6-Clubs} on the river. Hussen reached into his stack and put out a bet worth 3,500.

Cormier asked, "Do you have a queen?" as he cut chips out for a potential call. After about a minute he tossed the chips in the middle.

"Good call" said Hussen as he flung his cards in the middle, flashing {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for king-high. Cormier tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and raked in the pot.
