Chartier Shattered by Cemm

Level 8 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Sam Chartier
Sam Chartier

We got to the table as Thomas Cemm and Sam Chartier were in a pre-flop raising war. Chartier was in the cutoff and had 13,000 in front of him, which appeared to be a three-bet over Cemm's under-the-gun open. Cemm came over the top for a four-bet to 35,000 and Chartier called.

The flop came {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Cemm led out for 55,000. Chartier thought about it and eventually moved all-in for 60,000 total. Cemm snap-called.

"Do you have aces?" asked Chartier. Cemm tabled {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} and said "Yep". Chartier tabled {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} for the ultimate pre-flop cooler. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the river was the {9-Clubs} to send Chartier to the rail.

"I almost folded" smiled Chartier as he pushed his chips forward. "We're even now" said Cemm. "Yeah, we're even" laughed Chartier as he exited the tournament area. "I don't feel as bad about busting in 30th (in the $1,650 event)" said Cemm.
